Hi,
It's possible that others may also respond to the forwarding request in
the following message so my apologies if you receive it more than once.
However, I think it's worthy of as wide a distribution as possible -
particularly as we are only 10 days away from Remembrance Day.
Best wishes
Charles

Subject: CHARLES GEORGE BURKE
We have in our possession a war medal belonging to the above person.
This
person is not a member of our family, and how it came to be in our
possession, no one knows. I have searched the Commonwealth War Graves
site
and have found that Charles was a private in the Queens Own ( Royal West
Kent Regiment) and that he died on the 30th November 1917. He was the
only
son of Charles and Sarah Burke, of Lambeth Road, London. I would like
to
return this medal to anyone in the extended family of Charles Burke. If
his
name appears in your family research, could you please contact me. I am
not
a member of any other area news group, apart from the Suffolk news
group, so
if any of you reading this do belong to other groups, could you pass on
this
e-mail message on.
Thanking you
Laurie Rands, in sunny Auckland, New Zealand
