Hello David
Re your planned trip to Llangadog in June. First things first, there should
be quite a few B&B's to choose from in that area, and if not in Llandilo
which is not far from Llangadog, you could even move around daily if you
wanted - there should be quite a few to choose from. I suppose everything
will seem close to you in mileage because Carmarthenshire is not too big.
You will need to hire a car because local transport is not that good.
To do your research you would have to go to Carmarthen Record Office, which
can be found at:
Parc Myrddin, Richmond Terrace, Carmarthen, SA31 1DS - their phone number is
01267-228232
I would advise that you book an appointment with these, especially for the
Microfilm and microfiche readers. Not sure off hand if Llangadog is on the
original parish registers or on microfilm. You will need a microfilm reader
to view the census, because this is an important piece of family history,
which gives you so much information. There are only 4 microfilm readers here
so they are in constant use.
If you wish to purchase certificates the registry office is now in the same
place (separate building) as the record office, which means you can obtain
certificates at the same time......
Hope this helps, if you want me to give you directions into the record office
let me know
regards.....Pauline
