Hi Diane
You don't say what resources you have already researched in order to
trace the line "back to 1742".
There are 4 households in Wales in the 1881 census with Woozleys.
I presume you have seen them? If not let me know and i will send to you.
have you already checked the 1841,1851,1861 1871 and 1891 census etc?
Sorry to reply with questions - but in the past I have replied to
general queries like yours with several items of information only to be
told "I've already got all that!!"
If you tell us where your gaps are then we can keep a look out for you.
Pat

Hi....could anyone tell me if you have come across this rather unusual and
different surname in your research and gleanings? My grandmother was a
Woozley and my cousin in Wales and I have traced the line back to
Carmarthen-St. Peters in 1742. However, there are a few gaps along the way
which we are working diligently to fill in. Although the surname is a bit
unusual as far as Welsh surnames go, it has also undergone various spellings
throughout the years which makes for some interesting research.
We are having a difficult time finding any records to mention details and
whereabouts of the family during various times throughout the familys stay
in Carmarthen so if anyone has seen reference to the Woozley surname
throughout their research, I would be most grateful in hearing from you.
Many thanks for your time and attention to this posting,
Sincerely,
Diane M. Hungate
