Yo, Yvonne,
Many thanks for the info. on Rhandirmwyn. I`m
sure that there must be a connection between the Rhandi`s that you mention
and Rhandir Abbot, as this area was associated with the drover` routes.
Places like Tirabad were stopping places, I
believe, where the sheep and cattle could be fattened and rested before the
arduous ascent of the Epynt mountain was undertaken on the Tricrugiau trail,
on to the ford across the Wye at Erwood.
Anyway, I think that I need to consult some old
maps of the area.
Best wishes,
Ceri.

Ceri,
I don't know if this is any help but I have entries on censuses of hamlets
in
or near Cynghordy, (Llanfairarybryn parish) called Rhandi'r Ganol
(1881
census) and Rhandi'r Ucha (1891 census). So could your Rhandi'r Abbot be
near
there? Just a thought,
Yvonne
