Hi Anna
These are the only two at the time in question of a Thomas Davies and Ann
marriage in Llanegwad - they could have married after June 1837 - which
would mean they are not in the indexes......
25th March 1836 Llanegwad parish church
Thomas Davies and Ann Morgan widow
20th December 1836 Llanegwad parish church
Thomas Davies and Anne Jacob
regards
Pauline

Subject: [Cmn-L] Davies family from Llanfynydd
I'm trying to trace my relations on my fraternal grandmothers
side. The
records I have for the 1841 and 1851 are:
1841 Llanfynydd-dwelling Pentre Felin
Thomas Davies 35 Agricultural Labourer
Ann Davies 3?
Maria Davies 4
Ann Davies 2
1851 Llanfynydd dwelling Ty Canol
Thomas Davies 45 M Head Agricultural Labourer born Llanfynydd
Anne Davies 43 wife born Llanegwad
Anne Davies 13 daughter born Llanegwad
Mary Davies 9 daughter born Llanfynydd
William Davies 6 born Llanfynydd
David 3 born Llanfynydd
I've checked the Grooms Index on the Carmarthenshire fhs site and have
found
a number of records for Thomas Davies's in Llanegwad in 1836. As
their
eldest daughter was born there I assume it's also where they were married.
Does anyone with a Thomas Davies married in Llanegwad in 1836 have an Anne
as
the wife? If so then there could be a connection.
I believe the son David married a Mary Ann from Brecon. They appear to be
living in Ystrad, Rhondda in 93 Gelly Road in the 1891 Census. They are
aged
44 and 50 and have daughters Margaret Evans 24 and Dinah, my
grandmother,
who
was a dressmaker.
In the 1871 and 1881 Censuses there is a similar family living in
Llanguicke.
However, as David Davies is shown as being born in Llanegwad I am
unsure
whether this is the same family. I've got David (head) 25, Mary Anne 30,
Margaret 6, and John 1 in 1871 and David 35, Mary Ann 40, John 11, Dinah 4
in
1881 living at different addresses in the Wern area. Mary Ann again
comes
from Brecon but the children were born in Llanguicke.
I have no record of the 1861 Census. The info I have is from look-ups done
by other family members some years ago. If there is more than one family
here as I suspect, I hope someone can come up with an 1891 Census record
which will eliminate the unrelated family.
If anyone can help I can always forward any additional material which might
be of help. Incidentally Dinah Davies married a Morgan Elias Davies from
Llangadock.
Thank you.
Anna Thomas (by marriage) formerly Davies!
