Subject: unwed children
Hi List,
Found this entry on the 1881 census quite interesting.
Ellen DAVIES W 96 F Rel: Head Occ: Farmer
Evan DAVIES U 63 M Rel: Son Occ: Farmer Son
Ellen DAVIES U 72 F Rel: Daur Occ: Farmer Daur
Margaret DAVIES U 67 F Rel: Daur Occ: Farmer Daur
Grace DAVIES U 44 F Rel: Daur Occ: Farmer Daur
An isolated village maybe? or did the mother rule the household with an
iron
fist??
All four children unmarried.
And the mother was 52 yrs having the youngest!
Also found the following ages that the mothers were having the child.
51
54
56
59
But the oldest I came across was this one!!
Anne EVANS W 97 F Meline, Rel: Head Occ: Farmer Of 5 Acres
Mary EVANS U 32 F Nevern, Occ: Farmers Daur
Annie EVANS 9 m F Nevern, Rel: Granddaur
65 Years!!
I wonder how accurate that would be!?
Not so difficult for a male to be old having a child, but was surprised to
find the
following age difference.
John LEWIS W 97 M Llangennech, Carmarthen, Wales Rel: Head
Ann LEWIS U 19 F Llangennech, Carmarthen, Wales Rel: Daur
A difference of 78 yrs!
Julia
