Subject: Keep Wales tidy - stranger than fiction.
The influence of Welsh local councils is far reaching
indeed--------------
On the Southern most tip of the island of Phuket in Thailand there is a
scenic lookout and popular picnic spot.
There is a sign there next to some rubbish bins which says -
"Keep Wales Tidy"
underneath which is the same phrase in Thai.
What I want to know is why isn't there a Welsh translation on the sign as
well.
I have a clear photo of the sign and although I can't post it to the List,
will happily send any doubter a copy off-list.
David of Oz
(no Gareth, it's pronounced Poo-ket)
p.s. We found no explanation for the sign (like it wasn't the name of the
local village) - and our Thai guide was educated enough to have heard of
Wales!
