Hi Pauline,
I have been asked by Ellyn Francis, the 'Canuck' (ex- Carmarthen Archives) to
contact you and ask you if you would possibly happen to know if on each census from 1841
to 1891, whether the enumeration districts remain the same through the years.
Ellyn is now in the process of studying for her doctorate in Swansea University and
her Thesis is entitled "An Analysis of the Industrial Impact upon the Amman Valley
1841 to 1891". She is using the censuses for these periods to evaluate the population
explosion (due to the black diamonds and tinplate) and the eventual decline.
It would be extremely helpful if it was known whether the enumeration districts
remained constant during this time period. Also, do you know if there are maps of the
enumeration districts in the Amman Valley?
Anticipating your usual helpful self on this matter.
best regards,
Mal Davies..... from SUNNY wild Wales (Ammanford)
