I will have to get down to Carmarthen Town sometime to see the monument
for myself, unless it has been knocked down of course;)
Except for one census, Sarah Davies ('nee Ashton) maintained her
birthplace as Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire. She died February 1917 (age
82) of Pneumonia after falling down whilst cleaning her outside windows
in preparation for Christmas 1916.
I think it was more probable that her husband Evan Davies, had a brother
George who was the Superintendent of Police as Evan was from Gwernogle
or Abergorlech area in the 1840's
