Linda, I can't shed any light on the marriage of your Wm. Jones and Annie
Thomas, but do you know what a "Squire" was? It was NOT Mr. Thomas' name.
Just in case you don't, in Pennsylvania a "Squire" was the bottom end of
the
legal system and most towns had one. It may have been another name for a
"Justice of the Peace".
They were just ordinary folk with little or no legal training who had a
licence from the Commonwealth to marry folk, issue "Cease and Decist Orders"
to troublemakers, give signatures a legal stamp certifying dates, certify
the validity of signatures, and it is where I went to apply for a drivers
license.
The office was abolished or had its name changed to NOTARY.
I hope I'm not telling you something you didn't already know.
Perhaps there are records of when and where Mr. Thomas was then "Squire".
Hope this helps.

I have two possible marriage dates & places for my great great
grandparents-one in Wales, the other in the US.
William JONES of Olchfa fach near Llangadog married Annie THOMAS of
Halfway
22 July 1859.
I also have William JONES m Margaret Annie THOMAS in Mercer Co PA by
Squire
Collins 26 Nov 1866-this is in the family Bible. I have not found
their
PA
marriage record but I have found a Squire Collins performing
marriages in
the right area of Mercer Co
My Margaret Annie THOMAS was born at Halfway & my William JONES lived
Olchfa
fach-there were only a few family's there in little cottages
working as Ag
Lab so it seems to be the right couple even though William Jones is
certainly a very common name but why would they remarry in the US.
