Terrence,
Your posting was copied to the Carmarthenshire List:
I am trying to find information on my Gt
GrandfatherPc/Ps 84C Jenkins of the Carmarthen Police
Force.I believe he was a sergeant and lived/worked in
Trimsaran,Llanelli,Wales in the 1920s.
My maternal Grandfather Pc/Ps John WILLIAMS was in the
Carmarthenshire Constabulary for most of his working life (as
was his older brother David) from about 1910 onwards until
1947 and was stationed at Llandilo, Llandebie, Burry Port,
Laugharne, Llanboidy, Llangadog and Kidwelly.
I have three group photographs; one is date unknown but
probably around WW1 of a relatively small group taken
outside what is now called the Civic Hall in Llandeilo (Llandilo
was then HQ of the County Constabulary I believe). All those
pictured are named.
The second is a much larger group, captioned (by my mother)
'Llanelly Division' and dated in the 1930's. The third is again in
Llandilo; a larger group than the first, and was taken outside a
house in Crescent Road much used by Harries the
photographer for groups so I have been told. No names with
either of these though.
I can send scanned copies if you wish.
