Subject: [Cmn-L] Halfpenny Furze, 1851
Hi Pauline,
Owing to a minor disaster, I lost my Laugharne 1851 census download,
though
I still have the list ofall the Johns, separately, and I will
eventualy get
the CD. But could you please check if there are other families, like
Jones,
at, or near Halfpenny Furze? I heard from Carms Record Office, today,
that
around that period, John and Jones were totally interchangeable! I just
did
not realise this, and had not looked for Jones at all: it opens up a
whole
new can of worms! I have a memorial inscription, from Bwlch Newydd
cemetery,
to a child, Mary, of Wm and Ann Jones, born ca 1852, whereas Wm
John,married
to Ann John (widow, 54) who appears in the 1851 census as
stepmother,died
in
1848
Cheers Oliver!
