Very nice sentiments.
As Sparky Anderson, former manager of the Detroit Tigers Baseball Team
once said "It doesn't cost you a dime to be nice to people".
Happy New Year Gang!

Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Amish Cemeteries and Java
My friend and I took our children on vacation a few years ago to
Lancaster
County, It was beautiful the people were wonderful. They answered our
children's curious questions, they didn't seem to mind that we were
interested in their life style. They seemed to enjoy it really. They are
the
most wonderful people, My friend and I thought we would like to live
there, I
definitely could, of course our children raised now with Cable t.v.
computers, cell-phones, and the most deposable generation to walk the face
of
this planet, would have nothing to do with that, NOT even the
thought!
But the Amish certainly know how to live, and take care of each other.
Visiting them made me want to teach my children different values, or I
should
say reminded me to teach them values like helping others out,
don't be
afraid
to extend a hand, don't lie, don't cheat, treat EVERYONE with
respect,
treat
others how you want to be treated, don't be afraid to except
help, and
work,
work hard.
After visiting there, I wondered for weeks, even months, what happened to
us,
our society, no one seems to care about anyone. I remember when I
first
moved
here, our first Christmas I made all my neighbors home made christmas
gifts,
I did it every year until last year. I have lived here 10 years now,
I
still
don't know their names and never even got a hello, only strange
looks. So
I
stopped, I sometimes wonder if I was the jerk by quitting?! It's
that type
of
behavior from people today that make me want to live on the side of
a
mountain in Vermont or to move to PEI, or to wales and live in a cottage
in
the country.
But then I think life is what you make it, so make yours and those around
you smile, at least once everyday!!!
ok,sorry everyone, I just wanted to share my thoughts. I had a GREAT time
in
Pa. and will never forget that vacation. I do want to share this with
you
too, we went to Amish country, visited hershey, and saw all the sites in
Philly, our children, the ones I said wouldn't even pacify my thoughts of
moving to the country, Now wanted to know if the education portion of the
trip was over so they could go to "Six Flags"? We spend two weeks having
(
we thought) the times of our lives, to have our children tell us
they
couldn't wait to get to six flags. Kids today!!! LOL
I hope you all smiled at least once, it was fun to share that memory with
you!!
