Earlier this P.M. I was called and told that there was a program about Wales on the
Pennsylvania Cable Network.
I turned on the TV and a woman named Fiona Powell was giving a lecture on the Welsh in
Northeastern Penna.
Among other tops, one of which was why and when the Welsh came here, was how the
thousands and thousands of Welsh, and their tremendous contributions, who migrated here
have been all but ignored while other ethnic groups have been praised to the sky.
As if to instantly prove what she was saying, the audio portion of her talk was
interrupted by a TEST of the Penna. Emergency Management system something-or-other which
puts warnings of thunder storms etc. on the radio and TV. While she spoke, unheard, a
voice blabbed away, explaining how this was a test and if there had been a real
emergency...blah blah.
Then her lecture was cut off in mid stream, completely, when the network switched to some
very important Pa. Commonwealth legislature hearings on CEMETERIES!
If Ms. Powell had planned the whole thing to prove her point she could not have done a
better job.
Needless to say the Pa. Cable Network got a blistering E-mail.
