Hi Theresa
Yes, there is parking available, and yes I would book a film reader for the
census......sometimes it can get busy.....
When you drive into Carmarthen and you are on the new by-pass from the
Pensarn roundabout - come off at the railway station roundabout - the next
roundabout from the large Pensarn one....on this smaller roundabout - turn
right towards the County Hall (Large building overlooking the station - part
is the Old Castle) keep on this road (right hand lane) going up Castle Hill,
then down Spilman St - towards St Peters church, down Priory Street, then
you come to a small roundabout (the old oak) turn left here, follow the road
and you will come to the old school on your right.....turn in here and use
the left hand side carpark......the building here on the left is the record
office which is the one you require.....
I wish you luck - there is a computer in the record office which has been
donated by Carmarthenshire FHS - this is full of indexes - so this is a good
finding aid to use for your researches.....
Good luck - Pauline (hope you can understand my road directions)....

Thanks Pauline,
I found the records office as Parc Myrddin,(there is also a map) on the
Carmarthenshire web site. I don't know Carmarthen that well, do you know
if
it is well sign posted? and can I park in there or park somewhere
else and
walk there?
If I can I will try and go on Thursday.
Do you know if you have to "book" things in advance? I am trying to think
of everything I could possibly view when I am there. 1841 census for
Llanwinio. Also I need to look at the 1861 for Llanelli would that be
there?
Thanks again
Theresa
