Hi Marilyn
Glad you enjoyed it - yes, I suppose it is an important part of one's life
in this country, did not realise it was not the 'done' thing
everwhere.....even more so when the Rugby season begins!!
I must admit when I went to live in Australia in the early 70's at the train
station 7.30 in the morning, the pubs were open, and men were outside
drinking.......perhaps most of them were immigrants!!

Sorry to get off the subject, but just wanted you and Pauline to know
that
my daughter, Anne, and I LOVED reading this e-mail between the two of you
at
6:15 a.m.! It's nothing at all to you I'm sure, but after
our trip around
the U.K. last year, we now understand the "importance" of having a pint
in
the afternoon (or thereabouts!). It's still quaint to us, but
that's what
makes it so much fun. Anne is still being teased endlessly about the pint
she "had" to have with a scone at 11:00 a.m. at Blarney Castle because
there
was nothing else cool fit to drink! It was HOT that day, even that
early
a.m. last year and while I enjoyed my cuppa, she had a Stella as I recall.
However, we have now convinced my thoroughly American husband that, on the
weekends at least, tea time is VERY important even if he has a pint
(doesn't
drink hot tea ever)! Even had his with a scone one Saturday, then
complained the next week because I hadn't stopped to purchase any! I'm
getting him there!!!! :-)
P.S. See what valuable things besides ancestor hunting we pick up from
this
wonderful List!
Marilyn
