I have an number of ancestors from Pembrokeshire, Wales, and likely some relatives there now. I would like research these ancestors and at some point visit Wales. But I'm having trouble getting past those who came to America (Simon Butler, Anthony Matthews, Simon Matthews, Jane Butler, Ann Matthews, etc. The left Wales (the Butlers may have been from Carmarthanshire} in June of 1701 and they were a part of the famous Welsh Tract of Baptists who became well-known in that area of Delaware/Pennsylvania.
I have sent this information in twice before and never received an acknowledgement. Would someone out there please tell me, am I writing to the wrong address? Must I fill out a specific form to get someone's attention? If either of those are true, could someone let me know, please? I have been floundering around for going on two years with no guidance, whatsoever.
I understand that it takes time for people to get around to responding to queries, but I sent my queries many, many months ago, the first one probably a year ago.
Please Help?

Well What a question?
All files are EXE files, which will open to any place on your Hard drive,
Surely you must have Security which will inform you if any of these files
have 'Trojans' or other malicious intent.
Hopefully you are fully protected???

Hi Everyone
please do not be offended if you do not get an immediate reply, we do read
your messages.
Now Pauline & I spent shall we say since, 1990 probably several years
previous, until 2004, several days a week researching
in Carmarthen Archives, probably 7 days a month in the national library, in
Aberystwyth, With other days in Swansea, Neath & Cardiff, not excluding
Cardigan & Brecon Archives.
We recorded an incredible amount of Information during this period.
This is why we started the UK Genealogy Online archive, [which I must admit
was originally CFHS],
We Have bought in an [and spend thousands] incredible amount of
information, Scanned/Indexed/lent out/re-indexed/ plus much more, lots of
dedicated people have Given/Index/Loned Even more information.
It goes On & On this is why the UK Genealogy Online Archive has more
information available than any other resource online/not online available
about South & West Wales than any archive available.
Let me give you an example, check out www.ancestry.com . Search for
Carmarthenshire, other than census, what do you get, 3 Items!!!
Now goto http://www.uk-genealogy-online.com/whatisavailablewales.htm
what do you get???
Regards
Richard
Hi Elizabeth
Thanks, Just received an e-mail moments ago which confirms your statement.
It states
William Isaac (Rees's son) is buried at Llandowror Church Yard,
Carmarthenshire, Wales October 5, 1910
His wife, Elyn Elizabeth is buried in the same place January 19, 1894.
Part of the family who emigrated to the U.S.A. are still Methodists.
Whilst my g/g/grandfather Thomas Isaac is buried in a Baptist Chapel in
Killay Glamorganshire.
Thanks for the information on Clogyfran Bridge is. I have probably passed in
several times without
realising its.
Regards
Bryan
Hi Bryan,,
Are you sure your family were Methodists, as Bethlehem, Pwll Trap is Welsh
Independant?
Tabernacle C.M. Llanddowror doesn't have a burial ground but all my
Methodists from there are buried in the Church burial ground. Not sure if
this would have been common for everyone. There is a small C.M.Chapel in
Whitland called Bethania, situated in Trevaughan on the road from Whitland
to Tavernspite. Most of the chapels in Whitland share the same burial ground
in the cemetary at the top of North Road, although there is another burial
ground at Soar Ind chapel. The Church has its own burial ground.
There are also some Isaac's buried at Elim Ind Chapel, Llanddowror.
I am not really sure where Clogyfran Bridge is, but Clogyfran is between
Whitland and St Clears. If you look at a map and follow the course of the
Taf river from Whitland towards Llanddowror it passes close to Clogyfran.
The farm lane starts near Pont-y-fenni and is about a mile long. There is a
bridge over the Taf close to Clogyfran so I am guessing that is Clogyfran
Bridge. My family lived at Clogyfran Bridge back in the 1780's.
I haven't heard of Pontyrhill so it might be Glam.
Hope this is some help,
Elizabeth

I joined the
Carmarthenshire FHS Forum
a couple of weeks ago but it's a 'closed shop' as I can't post anything
to ask any questions at all - now that I've through about it a bit
more, presumably, it's a forum for FHS members only.... I had thought
it was some kind of replacement for this list hence my registering.
I have now accidentally unsubscribed from THIS list so could Admin
ignore that request please and leave me on the mailing list :-)

Hello Pauline
I now have copies of the marriage of Zachariah Thomas to Margaret Lewis on
24 November 1818 & of Zachariah Thomas burial on 25 May 1836 at the age of
38 years. Still not absolutely sure he is the father of my ancestor James
Thomas who gave the name of his father as Zachariah Thomas on his marriage
lines in Llanarthney in 1846. But as you know it was the only Zachariah
Thomas you & I could find as he appears to have died before registration
began and the 1841 census.
Could you look for a second marriage for his widow after 1836 as Margaret
Thomas would still have been a young woman. I have searched the Baptism
register of this church and any children born to the couple were not
baptised there neither were Margaret Lewis or Zachariah Thomas they must
have been nonconformists. Is there a C.M. Chapel in the area and do you have
the registers, please? James Thomas born around 1825 states on all of the
census reports that he was born in Llangeneirne Carmarthenshire. Is there a
Calvinistic Methodist Chapel there and do you have the baptism register
enteries, please?
All the best

I am looking for a Thomas Thomas, Llangan, Carmarthen, no d.o.b.known about
1795, (needlle in a haystack )
Hope you find the above link interesting
Jan Denley
Hi everyone
Well thanks to someone who started this ball rolling and the continuing good
work of Pauline the Carmarthenshire list is buzzing again.
So here goes with a request for information.
The 1911 Census shows my late father, Edward Morgan Jones as being aged 1
and living with my Grandparents, Roger Jones and Elizabeth nee Lewis at 49
Harold Street, Tirydail, Ammanford.
I am wondering if any of my relations are tracing this family?
Using Census returns etc, I think I have managed to get the Jones side back
to a David Jones born in Langurig, Monmouthshire around about 1813. He seems
to have married a Sarah Jones born about 1814 in Trefedwys, Monmouthshire.
They were living in a place called Canoffice, Langurig, in 1841. I wonder
what Canoffice means?
I recall seeing a picture in the family of my Grandfather, Roger Jones born
3 November 1873. He is in Army Uniform and is sitting on a Horse as though
that was part of the Unit he was in. I have been told that he was wounded in
WW1 when he would have been aged between 31 and 35.
Alas I cannot find any trace of him in the Army anywhere?
Best wishes to the list
Peter Jones
Now living in Essex
Hi, I received this info from another list.
Jill Jones
Hi All
The National Archives is in the process of converting about 300 binders of
street indexes to the censuses of England and Wales for 1841-1891 to create an
online finding aid and local history resource.
Find the town and street in the Index and it will give you the Census
Enumeration Number and Page. Currently the street indexes to the 1841, 1851,
1861, 1871 and 1891 censuses are uploaded onto Your Archives.
http://yourarchives.nationalarchives.gov.uk/index.php?title=Your_Archives...
So much easier than reading through the Enumerators Description Pages (if they
are still available).
This is a local and family history project where you are invited to write
stories about localities, properties, institutions, and businesses etc

Hello Everyone
Maybe I have been lax of late, but due to some prompting, lets get the list going again, there are nearly 500 subscribers, SURELY someone has a question, or something to share with us here on this list.....
Anyone got any questions that maybe someone can answer or anything to share with us.....anything at all??
regards looking forward to hearing from you all
Pauline
Hi PAULINE lots of lists iam subscribed to are very quiet at the moment ,in
fact some of them are only asking off topic questions that get a response
from the list manager telling them not to do so.One subscriber said she was
visiting a certain county and would like to know the best places to visit
during her tour,The webmaster stepped in after 200 email replys .In fact in
the end some were argueing as to what places were the best.
However there has not been any further genealogy requests on that particuler
list for some days now.Yourself and Richard have put so much into the FH
site ,its not often someone needs to find further info ,Both of you have
already produced most of the answers.
As for you being lax ,no you could never put yourself with that title.take
care regards from a very dry Deal

Just a note to inform you once again if you are going to the Carmarthenshire Archives you will require a Readers Ticket before you go:
Readers’ Tickets
Visitors are now required to have a Readers’ Ticket to use the service. Information on how to apply for a ticket, including what documents are required as proof of identity, can be found by following the links below. Please note two distinct documents are required.

I do not have anything for Pembroke that early, excepting maybe St David's
Diocese Wills........
If one just sits and waits for a family to just pop out from nowhere it may
never happen......its best to ask a question and hopefully if someone knows
they will reply..
That is why these lists are here, to try and help if we can..
