Hi Pauline
Yes I have one
I have traced back my Isaac's to one Evan Isaac b.1724 when he kept Isaac as
the surname and it became permanent from a patronymic of
is father Isaac William Lewis. Evan's William Isaac b.1750 married Lettice
Evan b.1758 in Llangan 1779, but I was also given information that in
Lllangyndeyrn marriage
of a William Isaac to Lettice Evans 1779 - year only. I have seen in my
tree where a couples married twice, vicars not believing their married
in another parish ?, but that was Bantry Ireland and London England ? Do
you have anything on this Llangyndeyrn marriage ?
With the help of others I now have corrected nearly all of the baptisms of
all their children. The difficulty arose because Lettice Evan was
non-conformist and came
from a chapel family and buried two of her 4 and 6 day old children
baptised in the church but buried in her father's chapel grave. Can't get
all those ancestry and IGI websites to alter their records, especially the
ficticious wedding of William Isaac 1774 to a Lettice put in to make their
trees feel good.
Anyway I am wondering about the Llangyndeyrn marriage, because I cant find a
baptism in Llangan for their eldest son a Thomas Isaac b.1780 according to
the 1841 census
and wondering if he was baptised in this Llangyndeyrn parish.
Regards
Bryan
Hi Pauline
Further to your emails with Leigh Varma, we are both trying to sort the Dwnn, Donn, Donne, Dun of Kidwelly, Llanelli and Llangendeirne conundrum. Is there anyone else who may have connections to us. The link between the Welsh Donne's and the later London Donne's hinges, seemingly, on Anthony (1693- 1751), who died in London but who left land to his eldest, Anthony (1726-1777)( who dies in Llangendeirne). The main property, Fforest, came to Anthony Sr., shortly before his death from the will of John Morgan in 1748, to whom Anthony Sr. was apprenticed.Does anyone know of John Morgan's true connection to Robert Donne of Kidwelly, who is referred to as a kinsman in the will. And what happened to Charles Morgan, John's acknowledged illegitimate son by Sage Woodcock, and sister , Magdalen, for Anthony Jr. to leave an annuity to "Charles Morgan's Daughter in Llanelli".
If anyone can help clear up these and other questions, we would be most grateful.
Mark Briars
