Hello List
I am seeking the parents of three children, David Davies born about 1862
he gives Llanelly on the 1871 Census. Benjamin Davies born about 1864 Again
Llanelly on the 1871 Census, and Mary Ann born about 1869 .Below is the 1881
Census . The Father was John Davies born 1827 in Abergerwilli as shown on
the 1861 census, His wife Margaret is shown as Margaret ? born Cilrhedyne ,
in 1881 below she shows Trelech. The Register Office in Llanelly said the
only Benjamin born to a John Davies and Margaret , was to a Margaret Edwards
. I have a Marriage Certificate of John Davies to Margaret Edwards giving
their marriage as Dec 25th 1855 in St Ishmaels, John is Living at Trecor and
Margaret at Ferry Side . I do not think this is the correct marriage as
having no children from Christmas 1855 to 1862 seems strange. I am hoping
some other person on the list has John Davies and Margaret Edwards on their
Tree and can help me untangle this family.

Hi Bryan
Thank you so much for this information, it is really appreciated.
I have a copy of the census 1891 it does not give any extra information,
just stated the crew on board on the night 5th April 1891.....
John Harwood is 29 master seas born Swansea Glamorgan
one mate, and 4 able seamen.
I looked in Lloyds register in the past and could not see a John Harwood
listed.....not mine anyway. On birth certificates etc for his 2 children he
just stated mariner merchant service, never a master, but my mother always
believed her grandfather was a sea captain, but no proof.
If I find extra information I will let you know
thanks again
Pauline

Hi Bryan
I know you are the expert on shipping etc. I have been given information on John Harwood from Swansea in the 1891 census that he was Master Seas on the ship International. I have no information on this at all.
Could this be my John Harwood, the age of 29 is correct and the birth place of Swansea. I have never found him as a Master, could you shed light on this at all ?
thanks Pauline
