Hello list,
Who can find my Elisabeth Davies, born Llandyfriog 1870, daugther of James
Davies, Blaencillech.
In 1881 census she was at Penlon Cillech and then at the age of 11.
She could have married into another Davies family before 1891.
Elwyn - Netherlands.
Yes PAULINE i have lots of those experiences in my story for the 7 children
,still hacking away at it .
Re 1930 USA census theres been moans as to the quality of print out .but
theres icons to enable better viewing at the top of page .
The meals we lived on were a far differant selection than whats on the table
today. Also the doctor only came to house if someone was dying, sometimes we
were off school but not very often ,only if a cold or cough took a good
hold.or there were brocken bones .
I was a lucky one in as much we had a toilet inside the house ,and a
bathroom upstairs ,no heating except for the coal fire in the living room
that heated the water in the front bedroom ,occupied by the parents.
Lots of my friends live in inferior dwellings like prefabs ,or what we
called airytypes.the sort that would let the heat out and the cold in
,weathers nice at the moment ,better than most parts of the country, regards
john

HI PAULINE i didnt get the emails i sent showing in my list,so i thought i
sent to wrong address. Now officialy retired,my brains in slow down mode.
Weathers somewhat tropical at the moment ,with high temperatures and
frequent heavy spells of rain.
Most of the south eastern coastal towns are suffering very bad because of
recession.Shops are closing every day ,unemployment is high ,but house
prices are stable.
Many families are emmigrating to Australia and NEW Zealand, and Canada. Those
who have skills that is.lots are traveling to London for work .
The trouble is ,so many around this area were living in expensive houses, and
cant pay the mortgage ,due to redundancy.
The other factor is they were use to a high standard of living ,and cant
appear to absorb what is happening,so many sad faces.
Where once was happy and laughing, and full of chatter.

Thanks for sending the links, I have wondered if the change in name was deliberate or a mistake of a census taker/resistrar that no one corrected and they just continued with the spelling??

Hi Pauline,
For some strange reason I cannot read the content only the subject of today's correspondence. I will call tech. support and see if it my computer.
In the meantime is someone able to check if David Lloyd and his wife Eliza and any children are buried in Bethania, they died around 1890 I believe (I cannot find either in the census of Llannon.
Here's hoping that I can read any responses.
Thanks
Anne
Not only do I live in Australia but I have never done any research in Wales, so am hoping for some advice.
I am, on behalf of a friend, researching a family called Davies, who lived in St Clears. William John Davies was born about 1884 in St Clears. According to his marriage certificate (1903) his father was Joseph Davies, a mason. I have found a likely family in St Clears censuses but in order to be sure that this is the correct one I need William John's birth so that I can obtain his mother's maiden name. Unfortunately there are are about four possible William J Davies born in the Carmarthen registration district within the relevant time period. Are there any indexes that would give me this information or any other way in which I can check this without having to order a birth certificate and take pot luck on the father's name being Joseph? I would be most grateful for any help/advice Regards Moyna Harland

Hi Karen
I am looking at the IGI on fiche that I have for the whole of Wales....
I can see the marriage entry, ......but.....it is not an actual marriage as
this information was not taken from the parish register but added by a
relative, or someone who is researching these people.......
I do not have this marriage in my index for the Dyfed marriages
1813-1837....which covers Cardiganshire, Pembrokeshire and
Carmarthenshire.....
This is what is given
Judith Mathias and Thomas Jones 1825 Llanllwchaiarn
there is a symbol with this entry that states information from a
relative......
So the person is only assuming that the marriage took place in 1825!!
hope this helps
Pauline

Hi,
I believe that someone posted a request for info on the Rewbridge family, my ancestor Elizabeth Owen married into this family in 1866 in Llanedy. I have quite a bit of information on David (born in Ferryside, married in Llanedy, later moved to Swansea) and the rewbridges.
