hi Pauline, the only details i have is in the 1871 census Ann and first
husband John are living at 12 Pantllwyndrue, in Pembrey, it gives his age as
20 although i think he may have been a little older than that, as they have
a 4 yr old child, in the 1881 census Ann has a child born about 1874, and
she remarried 1879, so John davies,s death was between 1873-79. Ann
Griffiths died august 2nd 1916. sorry i don,t have nothing more to help
Margaret
Hello Pauline.
I have been trying for so many hours
trying to find the dates I needed in my letter of June 8 th.
Every site I've searched gives me " 0 results ". I despair. I'm
unable to use the resources of the Mormon F.H.Centre as my wife needs
me at home for the next few months. I must, therefore, turn to you
again.
Even when looking for Williams wife's dates I was no more lucky. If
it was not for the fact that I have their marriage certificate I
could almost think that William never existed.
Only you can help.
Vaughan.

can anyone help please on searching the 1911 census, i found my 2 x gr
grandmother Ann Griffiths a widow, i searched for the grave of her husband, and
found him in the local cemetery, on the monument it gives details of ann,s
death as well, although she is not buried there, i enuired at the buriel
records office about this, and they said it was common in them days to name
a person on the epitaph but not for them to be buried there, so i am
assuming she is buried with her first husband John davies in Carmathenshire, he
died between 1871 and 1876 in Pantllwyndrue, Pembrey, is there anywhere i
could get details of buriels in that particular area, in order to find out
if she is buried with him, Ann died August 2nd 1916, hope you can help

Hi Sue
Glad that 1911 census helped to locate family.....
Are you stating that the surname changed from John to Williams and back
again.....
I have looked in 1861 Pembrey parish at the Richard Williams you
mentioned.......they were all born Pembrey.......have you purchased the
marriage certificate for Richard and and Jane John which in turn would give
his fathers name and occupation?
What information do you have from the census you have to show light on who
is who please.
thanks and welcome to Carmarthenshire list

Hello Listers
I am new to this group
When Glamorgan came online on the 1911 census on Wednesday I found my
husbands grandfather after many years of searching
he was living with his grandmother Ann John I then found he was born in
LLanenech Carmartenshire 1885
I traced Thomas John Williams back his grandparents William JOHN 1840
llanelly
on the census he was living with them from age 6
I knew his father was Richard Williams Tin plate Roller
from his marriage cert .
I found the marriage of Jane JOHN & Richard Williams.
on Free BMD on dec qtr 1885 LLanelly
William & Ann had a daughter Jane JOHN 1862 LLanelly
Richard & Jane
are no where to be found on later census .
Thomas was brought up by his grandparents.
I found a Richard Williamson earlier census he was the youngest child 1860
Pembrey
the father John was a coal miner
siblings David Mary Thomas William
I don,t know if this is the right family
ant help would be much appreciated

dear all
i rushed into the 1911 census and though i found several relatives
immediately
others were hidden away, some because of wrong transcriptions!
i was searching for samuel-etty tucker family in glamorgan area, i could not
find them though i hunted
everywhere. then by chance i tried their adopted 11 year old daughter's name
(Fidler)
and there they all turned up transcribed as samuel-etty fidler - i first i
thought my relatives
had wrongly filled out the sheets, but when i opened an actual pict. of the
page - they had
filled it out correctly - it was the computer transribers who got it wrong
labelling the whole
family after an 11 year old member of it.
if you dont find your relatives, try to outcrafty them at 1911census.

master burials......I think you know how to locate the marriages......just
go to Carmarthenshrie marriages, type Rob Lewis into the surname then
firstname.....it will bring all the Robert Lewis' up.......
I have these for you.....wrote them two days ago...sorry....

strange but I have a baptism in 1833 for for Robert Lewis son of Robert
Lewis and Mary Ray.....will have to chech this out with the
original....looks wrong to me....

1758 10th Sept Robert Lewis son of Robert
1790 28th Feb Mary Lewid dau Robert
1792 16th Sept Magaret Lewis dau of Robert
1799 24th Feb James Lewis son Robert and Mary
1804 4 Apr Robert Lewis son of John

I think it was mainly, if no solely, coal railway truck stock in the latter
years.
They used to monitor people on the tracks incase they picked up any coal.
The spilt coal was never collected from the tracks (there was too little)
but they prosecuted anyone from picking it up even though its value would be
measured in pence (or not more than a couple of bob in the 60's)

Dear Pauline.
My GGrandfather, William Lewis, was born in Pembrey in 1814 / 15. He
was a pilot as was his father Robert.
William married Anne Jacob, formally Waters, of Llanelli July 4 th.
1872
I do not have William's birth date or that of his death.
Can you help.
Vaughan.
Hi Mary
I'm not convinced that Mary, d. Ann Wilkin is your Mary - a Mary Wilkin of the right age appears in the 1851 census as a servant.
I have looked through the 1841 and 1851 census for both Laugharne and Llangathen can't find a Thomas Jones that fits your description.
In the 1841 census for Laugharne I can only find 2 Mary Jones that fit your age band:
Mary Jones (35) with children Mary and Elizabeth, both aged 11 (the word twins has been written).
Mary Jones aged 12 living with the family headed by Hanah Griffith.
Unfortunately, the 1841 doesn't give status or relationships.
Have you tried looking for a suitable marriage or burial for Thomas Jones?
I think you might have to consider all of the possible scenarios and eliminate them one by one. These are a few I've come up with - there are probably many others:
1. She was not baptised in Laugharne. If her mother was from another parish, she might have been baptised there.
2. She was baptised in chapel (Pauline's suggestion)
3. She took her stepfather's name - perhaps she was illegitimate, or her father died (this happened to my nain)
4. Her parent's died and she took the adoptive family name (this happened to my taid)
5. She made it up rather than leave the space blank!
6. She was baptised with another name - Mary might be a middle name (my g.grandfather swapped between William John and John William on a regular basis).
Sorry, it doesn't solve your riddle.
Denise

Hi Mary
In the Laugharne parish church baptisms there is only the one with father
Thomas, its the one that Helen gave in a previous email, but it seems she is
illigitimate, as she was born to Thomas Jones Llangathen and Ann Wilkin of
Gosport Laugharne 24th December 1819......
Do you think she could have been baptised in a chapel......where did she
marry, was it in the parish church or elsewhere....it may give us a clue of
where to look
thanks Pauline

hello pauline I am afraid I know very little of Mary Jones
She married Charles Hughes in merthyr in 1856(register Office )d/o Thomas Jones a Coachman
on census 1851 says born in 1825 Laugharne --1861 b1824 1871 b 1824
1881 b 1829 1901 b 1826
according to merthyr records the first 3 children do not appear but 3 born after marriage in 1856 have mother with maiden name Jones.
many thanks for your help mary

Hi Roy
I believe we have been in touch before about both the Bonnells of
Pembrey and the Rees families of Carnawllon. If I can help with any
