Me again
have you requested a birth certificate from Carmarthen registry office for
David...
you have his place of birth (Abernant) and his mothers maiden name.....plus
the fathers occupation, so you should be able to have a good match.....
send an email to

Hi Neil
Sorry taken so long, Sylvia prompted me that I had not replied, thanks
Sylvia
I cannot pinpoint Margaret Williams correctly, as you state there are so
many of them........I looked in Llanelly to see how many there were, not
that many of born circa 1848.......the closest was the one in Morning Star
Llanelly, father is Thomas Williams aged 46 mother Lettice aged 38.....but
he is a mason not a farmer....are you sure her father was a
farmer.....otherwise there is a one year old lodger with no parents
listed......
Better luck with David Morris, but, he was not baptised in either Abernant
(his parish of birth) or in Trelech ...only one of their children was
baptised in Trelech and that was
1825 20th March Trelech
Sarah Morris dau of James and Anna.....
being as David married in Rehoboth Chapel, they were probably
non-conformists.......
I have the marriage of the parents, prior to 1837 everyone had to marry in
the parish church, you could not marry in chapel at that time....
1821 11th June Trelech ar Bettws parish church
Jame Morris and Annah Jones
according to the 1851 census James was born in Eglwys fair in
Pembrokeshire.....but in 1841 he states he was born in the county.....they
were at that time living in abernant.....I believe you have that
census......living in Pantcoch their children were Sarah 15, Thomas 12,
Stephen 12, John 10, Anna 7, Elizabeth 4 and James 2
In 1851 they were in Trimsaran living which was part of Pembrey
parish.....so they were not in Pembrey itself.......
1861 Pembrey parish (Trimsaran)
Trillwm
James Morris head marr 64 farmer 22 ac born Pembs
Anna Morris wife marr 64 born Cenarth Pembs
David Morris son 17 farmers son born Abernant Cms
1871 Trylwm
James Morris head wid 76 farmer born Pembroke
Sarah Morris dau single 50 born Carmarthen
James Morris dau/son 5 born Pembrey
Cannot seem David and Margaret in Pembrey in 1871.......do you know where
they were then?
I'll see what else I can find for you
regards Pauline

Here is an interesting snippet from George Borrow
In about an hour I reached Llangadog, a large village. The name signifies
the Church of Gadog. Gadog was a British saint of the fifth century, who
after labouring amongst his own countrymen for their spiritual good for many
years, crossed the sea to Brittany, where he died. Scarcely had I entered
Llangadog when a great shower of rain came down. Seeing an ancient-looking
hostelry I at once made for it. In a large and comfortable kitchen I found a
middle-aged woman seated by a huge deal table near a blazing fire, with a
couple of large books open before her. Sitting down on a chair I told her in
English to bring me a pint of ale. She did so and again sat down to her
books, which on inquiry I found to be a Welsh Bible and Concordance. We soon
got into discourse about religion, but did not exactly agree, for she was a
bitter Methodist, as bitter as her beer, only half of which I could get
down.

Hi Sylvia and Pauline,
Many thanks for your help.
I've spotted the 1841 Rebecca but ruled her out, as she appears in the 1861 census with her Mum and sister, Elizabeth. At that time my Rebecca is in Cardiff living with Uncle Rees and his wife Martha.
I've got the father's name, John, from Rebecca's marriage certificate, which is witnessed by her Uncle Rees; so I'm assuming it will be accurate. Also, the marriage certificate and census information suggest a birth date of 1843 - 45.
According to the 1861 census, Uncle Rees, was born in 1821 in Llandovery.
This one's a real teaser, I've been on her trail for some time. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks also for the reminder, Pauline; I'll get onto that.
Take care,
Anne.
Just had a quick look at my database for Llandingat - could this by the Rees
she is living with?
1816 18th June
Rees Lewis son of Howell and Mary, Dolau Hirion, Farmer
does this fit......can see that Sylvia has a possible Rebecca in Pembs
1841.......is it her?

Hi Anne
Are you sure Rebeccas father was called John?
Living at Little Loveston, Loveston, Pembs in 1841 were
David Lewis, Age 28, occupation Agricultural Labourer.
Rebeccah Lewis, Age 28
Elizabeth Lewis, Age 18 months
and Rebeccah Lewis, Age 8 weeks.
Together with Susan Jermin a 12 year old Female Servant.
The 1841 does not give the actual place of birth, other than telling us that
all the above were born in Pembrokeshire.
Best Wishes
Sylvia

Hi Pauline,
I'm just re-sending this enquiry, as I'm not sure you've seen it. Any help gratefully received.
Take care,
Anne.

Hi Pauline,
I'm trying to trace my Lewis family.
Rebecca Lewis was born in Loveston, Pembs around 1843. I think she was orphaned whilst young, because I've never found her on a census with her parents (her father was dead before she married according to the marriage cert).
In 1861, she's living in Cardiff with her aunt & uncle Rees and Martha Lewis. I know it's dangerous to make assumptions; but I'm guessing Rees is her paternal uncle. He was born in Llandovery around 1821 according to the census info.
I would be very grateful if you could have a look for any possible Lewis connections for me. Rebecca's father was John Lewis, I have no idea whether he might have been born in Llandovery.
Many thanks, Pauline.
Anne (2015).

Hi
I am currently indexing the parish baptisms for Llandingat from 1813 onwards........
Anyone interested in this one.........I am sure someone there is seeking the surname
Goulstone
these are mentioned in this parish, he is a druggist....

Lyn.
I very much doubt it. The hospital was
demolished decades ago but, as was the case with most, the birth
probably took place at home. We're talking about the early 1920's.
p.s. You get the Gold for the fastest ever response; at least to me.
Winter having come early here in Canada I'd love to be down
under now.

Hello.
1. Would you, please, confirm the Burry Port address to
which I can mail my '09 fee.
2. This should be a no brainer but my local " Mormon "
expert couldn't answer.
Can a parent record a false date of birth. A
relative of mine is said to be less than two years older than I.
Pictures of us together in our youth convince me
that the age difference is much understated.
.
A birth certificate would not necessarily provide proof.
This relative and those close to her are all deceased.
Any suggestions ?
Puzzled.
Good afternoon from cold Kentucky.
Is there any records for Benjamine Evans circ 1794, possible wife Anna,I have not been able to find them on any cencus, I am now hoping more church records are available
They had a son William Evans circ 1821, born, St. Ishmaels, Llanstephan, married Ann Mortimer 6 Nov 1849 Capel Newydd Llanybi, she was born circ 1826, Possibly Pembroke.
by 1871 William and Ann were in Cwmpennar.
Could SKS please help me find this family.and if William had any siblings
Thank you, Sylvia Gardner
Hi Pat
Thank you so much for your efforts. I have not found this name on any
census. The person may have been Jones and married a Hilary and hyphenated
the name. If I had more information it would help but unfortunately I don't.
All I was told was that there was a family by the name Hilary-Jones in the
1950s in Pontyberem area. Could you tell me what other parish Pontyberem
comes under, apart from Llangendeirne.
Thanks Pat.
Regards Mandy
Hi Pauline
Yes it is happening on other lists.
The odd thing is that whereas some of the mailings seem to have been
"held up" somehwere and are "new" , some of them I have definitely had
before because I remember reading them.
Cheers
Pat
