Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Dear Pat.
I've been a " unsubscriber " for almost a year and I've only
recently returned to the fold.
I also wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New
Year.
I still have a few walls to surmount but know that wonderful
researchers such as you can
help as you once did during my hunt for the Narbetts of Pembrokeshire.
Vaughan.

Because it is going to be reasonably quite over the next 7 to 10 days, I will be adding and rearranging, databases & Data, and testing the websites.
We have four servers at this time:
Genuk-online.com 200Gb
Genuk-online.net 200Gb
Genuk-online.info 100Gb
Southwalesfhs.com 100Gb
Hopefully I can move information from Southwalesfhs.com, in the coming few weeks to the other three servers using southwalesfhs.com as a back up server should any of the others lose data, which can happen.
So do not be alarmed if your data disappears for a while, it will be back online soonest.
Have a nice Christmas & New Year
Richard

Hi
I am hoping to confirm that a William Thomas married a Margaret Williams in Llanelly in Mar quarter 1840. I have found a possible match, but there are other on the page:
DAVIES Thomas Llanelly 26,652
MORGAN Elizabeth Llanelly 26,652
THOMAS William Llanelly 26,652
WILLIAMS Margaret Llanelly 26,652
Is anyone able to make a definite link between the 2 from their records?
Thanks
Roy
HI just before you start prepearing yourselves for the festivities ,could
someone see if they can find DAVID REES on the 1841 census i have his
daughter ANNE PHILLIPS with husband DANIEL PHILLIPS in fishguard ,when the
couple were married in llanllawer in 1839 the father DAVID was still alive
,ANNE was residing in COURT LODGE court estate.but was born llangoedmor in
cardiganshire.
Daniels father was alive also his name was WILLIAM PHILLIPS,daniel was
residing in labover farm llanllawer just outside fishguard ,i know its hit
or miss with this request, but any help will be appreciated regards JOHN
Julia, Please spare my blushes! I am glad you liked the photos!! I am just glad I looked at the writing on the stones instead of walking along the back of the stones as I usually do.
As I told Julia there is another interesting stone close by. It is dated 2nd March 1835 and states on the stone "first buried here". This must mean that the chapel was built around the same time.
Seasons Greetings to everyone from a freezing, white with frost, but sunny Pembs border. Wish I was in California!!!
Elizabeth
Does anyone have an e mail or phone for the Llanelli Star or the
reference library you mention? Thanks, Susan

Hi Roy
The report could well be in the Llanelly/i Star - Llanelly Reference library
holds copies of this newspaper, or it could also be in the Llanelli
Guardian. There is an index for the Guardian in the Reference Library....
I cannot look for you myself as I am not there, but perhaps you could send
an email or telephone them to ask.

Hi Roy
It will not give any extra information as no fathers name was given on the
early ones.....but...you do have her maiden name and it took place in
Llangendeirne.
Do you have them in any census for it to say where they were born?
I have indexed Llangendeirne and Llanelli early ones

Hi All:
My last posting I was over the moon, now I must be off to Mars.
I have received an e-mail from Elizabeth who took the time to return to Elim
Chapel. Llanddowror. and take photos of my GG Grandparents grave, also the
chapel. I have reproduced the photos
in 8 "x 10" format, and they are terrific,
My hobby has been photographer for many years, and Elizabeth's composition is
GREAT.
Picture #1 shows the chapel in the shade with what looks like frost on the
ground with gravestones around it but across the road the hill is in the sun
showing trees alive with autumn color.
Elizabeth explains that the chapel faces north and is never in the sun in the
winter,
Picture #2 with the chapel to the left, frost all over the grass with a
larger view of the grave yard
with a setting sun behind trees that are void of leaves a real cold winter
scene.
Picture #3 Is a close up of the family grave stone, which I have reproduced
at varies close up angles
picture #4 The family stone surrounded by other graves.
Living in California these photos have giving me another insight to my GG
Grandparents where they went to church and are buried.
Thank you Elizabeth also to all on the list who have help me over time.
Here's to more brick walls down in 2008.
All the best for the Holidays
Julia

Hello
I have found a specific reference into the inquest into my great grandfather's (Walter Rees) death in 1911 "Liberty of Kidwelly Inquest held 21 NOV 1911", where he died from shock 3 days after being scalded by a burst steam pipe. E-Mails to the Carmarthen Coroner for information or help in locating information from the inquest (as suggested elsewhere) have elicited no response. Does anyone has access to local papers or records for the time? I would be very grateful if they look to see if they can find specific reference to this inquest and the accident and provide me with any more details of what actually happened. Thank you
Roy
Thanks Paulin and Pat. Jane Morris does look most likely. Does this mean I
will be able to trace any further back now I have this information?
Roy

I did look it up, but looks like I forgot to answer this one.....! Same as
yours, but the one to Jane Treharne in 1821 - she was a widow and he was
from Llanelly.

Yes, you are right, we talk about rugby and recipies - but - that is what
this list is about, we can talk about anything that we think will amuse
listers, (and he was welsh) :-)) it's a quiet list lately so it is nice to
brighten it up once in a while.
Thanks for the input, It is the time to be Jolly anyway!!
Glad you have had luck on your Davies side......no such luck with mine!!!
Merry Christmas
Pauline

I was recently in Cwrt y Cadno and surrounding areas, and took photos of
gravestones. I'll have a look and see if anything matches, I know there were
Morgans there as well as Davies and Jones.
Will let you know.

Helen
Hello Helen
I notice that in a recent posting you have an interest in the DAVIES
family and Caio.
Just on an off chance have you any connection with (or information on,
during your searches) of the following.
David DAVIES of Tynewydd (father Jenkin DAVIES), who married Mary MORGAN
in Crygybar Chapel 27/12/1852, only known child Margaret DAVIES born 7th
May 1855 Troedyrhiw Cayo.
or
Gwenllian Davies, un-married, lodging with MORGAN family in 1851
(Troedrhiw ryd Conwil Cayo)) age 60
