Hello,
Sorry to post such a thing to the list, but since I am coming to Wales in March and April and will have 2 days in London, my aunt has asked me the followng:
HI Mona,
Do you think you can find out from one of your Welsh friends how much a cashmere sweater costs in London? Julie would like a black, V neck, long sleeved cashmere sweater. I paid 1/3 of the US price for two cashmere sweaters in 1985 when Jack, Brad, and I went to England. Cashmere lasts perfectly and I am wearing them today. No moth holes or anything! I was thinking that if they are indeed cheaper, maybe you could pick one up for her when you are over there. I will send you the money beforehand. My sweaters are a 38 so she thinks she would wear a 40 or 42 if they have them.
Love,
Jackie
Anyone with any info about the price of such a sweater can email me off list and I will pass it on. Much thanks in advance! Personally, I am thinking of getting one of those bulky Irish sweaters for myself while I am in Ireland. And some Welsh Davies tartan.....
Mona

HI Rhodri
Yes, the enumerator has spelt it Burnuthan.....but for some reason in 1841
census transcript I indexed it as Brynwthan......just to confuse.....
Richard looked at a 6 inch to the mile O.S maps which we have copies of....
hope you are well...

I am sure you are right it is just that I looked at both the 1841 and 1851
and it did look like 'Burnuthan' in both instances; which doesn't make any
sense where as Brynhwthan does.
Realised it was somewhere between Llandury and Drinog; should have tried to
identify it on a map.
Didn't realise how many Penybanks and Penybacks there were!

The place is 'Brynhwthan'
You will find it Near Waun Baglam, Baglam & Myrtle Hill off the Mountain
Road Leading to Trimsaran, you can also find it by turning right before you
get to Llandury Church on the Pinged Trimsaran road.
The same family were there in 1851

Hello Pauline,
I am on the hunt for more information regarding my Rees family. From the
Llangadock PR's do you know the parents of Edward Rees of Ddolgon, and also
the relationship of Elias Rees who was born in 1762 and who married Elinor
Summers? Where Elias and Elinor the parents of Edward?
Regards,
Ian.
Hello Pauline,
Hope you well.
Please could you check the Llannon records for me.
I'm looking for David Vaughan's baptism circa 1813. His father is John (mother possibly Margaret).
If you can't find him, please could you look for Ann's christening in 1818. I think she is David's sister.
Many thanks,
Anne Powell (2015)
Hello all.

hand-written address found on Ancestry.co.uk. To me it appears to read

Born in County: Yes
Occupation: Farmer
Wife: Anne aged 50 years

Hi Val
They're not very easy to find...I think I may have Hannah as a servant in
Swansea for 1851, John as a miner in Aberdare in 1841 and 1851...but the
links are tenuous...
I can email you the pages offlist if you want.

Hello Listers,
I recently requested help with 1841 and 1851 Census information.
Maybe I did not give enough information about the family.
I have :-
Hannah DAVIES 1841, b. Llangefalog Carmarthen, aged 20 and living with a JohnDAVIES, aged 15, a coal miner at Ystrudfach.
Page HO 107/1385/9
I have not found her again until
1861 Census living in Aberdare Glam. wife of John HARRIS at Old Mill St.
!861 Aberdare Glam. Old Mill St.
John HARRIS Head Miner 39 Labourer Born Llandefalog Carmarthen
Hanah HARRIS wife 38 " " "
Catherine daug 9 " Aberdare Glam
Margaret daug 7 " " "
Miriam daug 4 " " "
Isaac son 2 " Aberdare Glam
I would like to find John HARRIS for 1841 and 1851 and Hannah for 1851.
If anyone has access to the relevant census records I would be most grateful for a look-up.
Thank you in advance Val in Leics
Please could someone with access to the Census for 1841 and 1851 do a look-up for me.
With the kind help of others I have found my HARRIS family back to LLandefalog but I would love copies of the two eariest census returns. The details I have are:-
1861 CENSUS living at Old Mill St. Aberdare Glam.
John HARRIS Head 39 Labourer Llandefalog Carmarthenshire
Hannah HARRIS Wife 38 " "
Catherine HARRIS Daug 9 Aberdare Glam
Margaret HARRIS Daug 7 Aberdare Glam
Miriam HARRIS Daug 4 " "
Isaac HARRIS Son 2 " "
I would be most grateful for any help offered and also be pleased to hear from anyone else looking at this family.
Thank you,
Val in Leics
Hi all
Back from holdiays. In receipt of the RGO birth and marriage certificate
for David Richards.
He was born 6th November 1845 at Banc Monachty to Henry Richards and Anne
(nee Thomas)
The 1841 census states at that address there was Henry Richard and Anne,
then the 1851 1861 1871 states
Henry Richards at Ffynondawel. Then in 1881 at Loughor Henry Richard.
It appears the Registrar in 1845 changed the surname from Richard to
Richards. Thus my g/grandfather
kept it, but his father did not.
So I am now chasing surnames Richard and Thomas who originate in Abergwilli
and Richard who was living at
Masons Terrace Loughor Glam.Wales in 1881
Regards
Bryan Richards
Hi
I know lots of you have Llanelli interests......thanks to members we now have more online indexes for the parish.
Trinity Church Felinfoel has been added for baptisms, burials and marriages from 1858.......to the 1900's.....complete transcripts = marriages have witness names too....
Llanelli burials from 1847 to 1903 ( we already had to 1847)
All Saints Goring Road burials added from 1878.
Adulam is there........also now Llanelli Independent chapel listed.......
If any have Carmarthen interests the Non-conformist list is growing rapidly.....okay some are on the IGI but it does not give occupation, abode or mothers maiden name etc which is vital information......so these are a bonus...namely Lammas Street chapel, Water Street (Heol Dwr), Tabernacle Dark Gate, Penuel Chapel Priory Street.....and more in the pipe-line - namely Ebenezer John Street......and many more.
Most of Llandeilo fawr indexed, marriages to 1860 shortly and now starting on non-conformists.......Llandingat burials added, Llanegwad burials added, Llangeler burials added, Llangendeirne burials added, Llanfihangel Aberbythych burials added, Milo Cemetary, Carmel Chapel Llanfihangel Aberbythych added, Carmel Llandybie.........Llandybie Monumentals ongoing as a very large task. Rock Chapel Trelech is ongoing, if anyone has ever searched these records you will know how difficult they are to read, thankfully these are being indexed by Sandra......a task which I do not relish.....
When looking at the indexes, I like to use perform search as it brings them all up as they were typed in - unless you want to bring up a specific surname which is so much easier.........also we indexed by baptism date, lots of these are by birth date with no baptism date, so you need to view it both ways.....
Thanks to everyone who has made these indexes available to members .......many many more still to be added.
Anyone with Carmarthenshire interests its well worth being part of it.
Information being added every day......not only to Carmarthen but to surrounding counties too......whole of Wales 1841 on line......
thanks for listening Pauline

I am researching my father-in-laws family and wondered if anyone can help me.
So far I have confirmed the following information:
Thomas JONES born 22 Aug 1911 Cwmsaerisaf, Llangeler father David JONES, (Coal Miner, Repairer) mother Mary JONES nee JONES
David JONES (Woollen Weaver Tymain Factory, Llangeler) married Mary JONES 23 Jan. 1897 Newcastle in Emlyn David's father John JONES (Clogmaker), Mary's father Benjamin JONES (Shoemaker)
David JONES born 17 June 1870 Cwmcerig, Llangeler father John JONES, mother Margaret EVANS
I have been unable to find Mary JONES' birth certificate, even though I have sent away for a number of the possibles from the BMD site. I have also tried to get John JONES and Margaret EVANS' marriage certificate.
I have used the certificates to check the census records and have come up with possible people back to 1841.
I realise is can be a bit hit and miss trying to find which is the real one amongst so many JONESES but I was wondering if anyone, who has researched their JONES family has any helpful hints.
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards Brenda
Hi Pauline,
