Hi Ron
Do you think this is the correct one, she is the wife of John Rees.......she
may have been in one of her children's houses when she died and not her own,
or perhaps she moved.....where was John in 1871 have you searched the census
for him and his family in that census.......
I have the book 'Llandeilo Past and Present' and there is an advert here

Hi Pauline,
I meant to have added this on to my last May request, brain is haddled!!
Thought I'd ask a Newby question again after the brilliant response I had with the last one. My G.G Grandfather John Newby, b1812 Llandovery, father of the Walter who emigrated to America, married a few times, certainly twice at least. His first wife was Mary Price, and his second wife, Walter's mother, was Mary Morgans of Llanelly. I think she was born between 1829 and 1834, but I can't find a marriage. There are a few Morgans in Llanelly, but I don't know which is the right one, thought a marriage certificate would at least help with the father's name. What do you suggest Pauline?
Thanks,
Jenny 5007
Hi Pauline and listers,
I thought I would try one more time for any May family researchers. Anyone looking for May's in Llanelly, Penarth, Cardiff or Devon. Thanks to the ones who have replied so-far, unfortunately not the same family.
In anticipation,
Jenny 5007
I was watching BBC 2W last night and on the programme about Great Welsh
Journey's they tackled the Heart Of Wales railway line and the prize winning
station of Dolau and who should I see in charge of the volunteers but
Stephen VIPOND (his wife was also there) who just happened to be the man who
married my wife and I (I don't mean we are married to Steve of course!). He
also happens to be a leading voice in the Builth Wells Male Voice Choir.

Hi Kim & Richard
I was taught by Mrs Brazell in Llanelly Girl's Grammar School 1849 -
1956 - I would guess this is the same one.
Unfortunately I know nothing of her family - but I seem to remeber
someone else looking for Brazells some time ago.
If I find a note about it I'll let you know.

Hi Kim
As far as I know the library does not have the newspapers on microfilm. I
did research on Pwll school a few years ago and was able to take copies of
snippets of what I wanted. However this has been stopped due to wear and
tear of the documents.
I have not been to the reference library for a while now. I never seem to
have the time.I must go and this might give me a reason
Cheers
Anne

Dear Local Listers,
I was wondering if anybody in Llanelli would know if the Llanelli Library
has the 1880's newspapers on microfilm and if they do interlibrary loans
internationally?
I am trying to find out what advertising would have been in the paper in
1882-1883 that would entice a mining family to move to mine fields in
Queensland Australia.
Many thanks,
Kim Rancans

Hello Pauline,
I checked the 1881 census at LDS and the only John Rees was in Glamorganshire. I don't think he would be there after living in Llandeilo Fawr most of his life. He probably died before the 1881 census. Also the two daughters you found for me are not in the 1851 census so they probably didn't live long. Maybe I can check with the CRO to see if anyone is mentioned on Jane's death certificate.
Thank You
Ron Rees
Thanks Pauline.
I do have an ancestor who was born (and poss. married?) in Pembrey.
Unfortunately, I do not know her maiden name, but do know her year of birth.
Haven't got her file to hand at the moment, so will contact you later.
Regards
Richard
Elizabeth,
I know you could access Pembrey Records through the Pembrey Historical
Society site without paying.
I last used the site FREE of charge approx. 6 months or so ago, but I'm
struggling to gain access today.
I will continue trying - and if I'm successful will let you know.
Regards,
Richard Evans

Hi Ron, she is buried in Llandeilo fawr parish church......she is in their
burial records....it does not say where in the church but within the church
burial ground, when we visited that church the graveyard is on two sides of
a public road.....
Whitehouse is the address on the burial entry.....which translates to Tygwyn
in welsh........the age does seem about right and within the time you need
it....perhaps if you purchased a death certificate from Carmarthen registry
office, or at least check if the husband or child was an
informant......perhaps the vicar put the incorrect placename for
her......stranger things do happen....

Hello Peter
Although a bit later the map link I sent you before also shows the Glanmor
Foundry, which was adjacent to our house in Bryn Terrace.
From the other details you have supplied I guess this is the one you want.

Hello, Pauline!
Yes, we've found Marine Street - and it is near something called the Old
Foundry - so it must be around there.
Are you aware of any maps of Llanelli from about 1850? Or earlier in
the 19th century?
Thanks for this tip!
Cheers, Peter

Hi all
Forgive me for putting my opinions in here but for what they are worth here
they are:
Let us be thankful that Carmarthenshire think enough of us that they are
financing this Records Office.
Let us also be thankful for the dedicated group of people helping us in the
Records Office - without them where would we be.
All it means to me is that I will need to be a bit more organised - I will
not be able just to call in on the off chance. I will have to plan ahead and
book a place in the Records Office and make sure that my time will be
profitably spent there.
Tommy

Hello Rhodri and all
I'm sure if things were as simple as that the Carmarthenshire Record Office
and all other record offices would already be doing it!
