Thank you Ruth
Now I know for sure, that Margaret Collins was a WILLIAMS before marriage.
This has been the most wonderful morning for good news.
My daughter has won an election to make her Ontario's voice for Canada
in The Real-Estate Board. this is 3rd from the top position.
Thank you all for letting me brag.
And many thanks for this wonderful Collins /Williams information.
Now I can try and find the parents and siblings of Margaret Williams my
g-g-grandmother
Yesterday Sandra found in the 1901 census, that Margaret was remarried to a
?WEBB
and that there had been 2 more children born to her and Henry Collins after
the 1861 census.
But this was all she could do at the moment.
So my thanks goes to all you girls.
Best regards
Ruth

St Illtyd in Llanrhidian

Also found and entry in 1851 census for Henry Collins
He was living as a visitor at Water Street Fishguard Pembroke. Probably

Hi Jim
Just been browsing again hoping there may be some photo's of the family not
so lucky there but at least the biography is there.
There was three of my GGGrandmothers family went out there 3 brothers and
her father his wife died around the 1850's. I was surprised to see so many
had gone out there. My GGGrandmother was born in Pembrey which is where
most of one side of my family came from, I was born in Llanelli, sadly I
don't know the area's well enough.

Thank you for sharing this information epecially the link to the
welshmormon history I have traced some more information on my Williams
part of the family from this site.
There is quite a big biography on John Haines Williams which is one of
my GGGgrandmothers brothers and quite interesting reading as it mentions
a marriages between JH Williams to a Sarah Jane Davis daughter of
William and Margaret Davis of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
There may be some connections here possibly!

Hi Pauline.
There is a great possibility, as some one sent me a Henry Collins that was
the only one born in Swansea around the time my Henry was born.
I would love to know more, if you have that access.

Hi all
Is there some kind person that could do a look up for me. on the 1861 census
for
HENRY COLLINS and his wife MARGARET and children.
living at Cross Lane in a place called LLandingad in LLandovery
> Carmarthenshire

I am hoping that it will give me the place where each member of this family were born.
It has been suggested that I send for one of the children's birth certificate.
This is not possible with out some idea where they were born.
Henry and Margaret are my maternal g-g-grandparents.
Many Thanks
Ruth, Ontario, Canada
Hello Pauline
Thank you for your reply. I was sent the information on Henry Collins as you
see below. There was no other info that came with it. I do not have the name
of the sender, of this Collins family, I deleted it by mistake.
I was hoping someone would be able to find this family on the 1861 census,
and that would give me some information as to where each family member were
born.
I am in Canada, and for me to send for a certificate is costly, if it's not
a match.
You are the only reply I have had.
Being new to this list, I am not sure what I can ask of,
the more knowledgeable list members, like yourself.
I appreciate any advice and information.
Many Thanks
Ruth

I cannot see a Henry Collins in 1851 census Carmarthenshire, where did it
give his place of birth in 1861?
To locate the wife's maiden name, send for a birth certificate for one of
the children that will give you her maiden name.....where the children were
born should give an indication of whereabouts they married from

Hi all
I think I might have a lead on my MARGARET WILLIAMS, who married Henry Collins. about 1853
Margaret Williams had a brother, named REESE JONES WILLIAMS
born abt 1819 Llanddeusant, Carms. South Wales. He was the oldest of 5 children, born to
JOHN WILLIAMS and MARGARET JONES.
This may be a long shot, but I need to research this family further to make sure they are family.
Any information would be a great help.
Many Thanks
Ruth
Hi,
Ruth, You seem to be having the same probs as me, I think its something to
do with the surname of Williams! I have had similar experiences by not being
able to locate my g.grandparents birth. I found them on the 1881 census once
they were married, John Jones married Amelia Williams in feb 1881 in
swansea, and on the census of that year lived in Ystradyfodwg. I have their
children obviously, and their deaths - John in 1914 and Amelia in 1917. *But
*cannot find any association with them prior to 1881!! On all census records
from 1881 it says John was born LLandybie, carmarthenshire and Amelia born
St,Clears carmarthenshire, but cannot no matter how hard i try find their
births!! or even previous census records:( On their marraige certificate it
says Amelia's father was John Williams and John's father was William Jones.
Both births are about 1853-1856. I am coming to the conclusion that its the
name Williams!! -there are just so many of them!
Good luck with yours anyway,
--

You may know this already but David Jones of Brynygorse farm Llandefeilog is referred to in the web site www.welshmormonhistory.org
If you enter Sarah Jenkins in the "immigrants" you will see that her maternal grandfather was David Jones of Brynygorse Farm, there are pictures of her ( b 1834) and the farm.
My interest is that my 3g grandfather was named David Jones of Llandefeilog AND his grandson (my grandfather, yet another David Davies) was born at Bryn y Gorse farm. However my dates are not consistent with the ones you quoted, my David Jones was born 1813 and was the son of Benjamin Jones b 1776. But an interesting combination, if you have more on your Jones's of Llandeveilog I would be interested in the detail.

Hi List members
I am sorry to be repeating myself, I sent this on just over a week ago, and there was no reply.
So with high hopes , I am sending the information again.
I am researching MARGARET (Williams)? I am not sure if this was her maiden name.
She would have been born about 1834 going by her age on the 1861 census.
She married Henry Collins, some time around 1852/1853?
Couple of weeks ago, I was sent a family with HENRY COLLINS as head.
Census 1861 is the following
Henry Collins age 29
Margaret Collins age 27
Henry J Collins age 7
Mary a Collins age 5
Peter G Collins age 3
Margaret W Collins age 11 months
Living at Cross Lane in a place called LLandingad in LLandovery Carmarthenshire
Henry was a General Dealer,
I am in need of some advice as to where to look for:
Henry and Margaret's marriage date, or a possibility of a date
Margaret's maiden name and birth location if any one can help me there.
Henry and Margaret's descendents. (parents and siblings)
They named their second daughter Margaret Williams Collins.
She was baptised 17 May 1860, St. Michaels, Pembroke, Wales
She was my g-grandmother,
this makes me think that Margaret Collins (Henry)
might have had the surname of Williams.
I would love to hear from anyone with similar interests. Hopefully there is someone who can help me get started on these families Williams and Collins
Many Thanks
Ruth
