Hello Susan - I have a William Morgan born 1834 (son of William Morgan 1806
and Margaret Francis 1809 married 5th Aug 1831) in my family with wife
Elizabeth William born 1837 (dau of John Willliam 1804 and Margaret Wilkins
1805 married 22nd Nov. 1825). William and Elizabeth married at Sion
Chapel on 2nd December 1856. Now these dates may be too far out for
you. In 1841 the Morgan family were living in Seaside. In 1851/1856
William Morgan was living in Marble Hall. In 1861 he was living in Western
Row. In 1871 he was living in Rhandir Cottage. In 1881 Elizabeth his
wife was living in Rhandir and William was dead by 1881. If it does tie
up then I can go back a further generation. I have not done much work on
this. All my time seems to be spent chasing my John William 1835 (no
direct relation to the above William of Marble Hall)!!!

Diane,
I forgot to mention that there is a register of burials at the cemetery. The
office is inside and to the right of the entrance - from what I remember it
looks as if it used to be a private house - if the man in charge is there
he's very helpful and will check out burials if you know the year (and if he's
not too busy of course!).
Good hunting!
Yvonne R.
Dear Yvonne,
Can't begin to thank you enough for the information and am planning a visit
to Carmarthen as we speak. How many times I have been to Carmarthen and
probably passed right by!
I will keep you both posted on my visit and our findings.......sad to hear
the stone are lying flat but now would be a good time to get out there and
see what we can see.
Can't wait!
Diane

Hi Diane and Pauline,
Sorry for long delay in replying. Unfortunately I can't find my street map
of Carmarthen so although I can drive to the Municipal Cemetery when I'm there
I'm not too sure about giving directions! I usually drive there from the CRO
so I get to St. Catherine Street from the east then turn right on to Water
Street which leads straight on to Fountain Hall Terrace and then keep following
the road and Lime Grove is off on the right before you get to what looks
like open country. The cemetery is sign posted so once you're on the right road
you can't miss it. The old St Peter graves are to the right of the Chapel of
Rest - all lying flat.If you try RAC route finder, Diane, it will give you an
itinerary from your home (just input Lime Grove, Carmarthen as your
destination and it should come up).
Pauline, sorry I don't have an email address for the cemetery office - it's
been quite a while since I last contacted them so they might have one now. If
I find out I'll post it to the list.
Cheers,
Yvonne Reid
Just a little postcript to the Adulam e-mails. Sometime in the late 50's or
early 60's as a child I was with my family down from London visiting our
relatives in Llanelli and were at the Adulam baptism service when the
minister sadly died during the service before everyone had been baptised.
My father was a 'methodist' minister and offered to step in, but his offer
was declined and proceedings were either held up until another 'baptist'
minister could be found or maybe abandoned until another day, I can't quite
remember.

Hi Sue
My aunt was Ada Morgans (nee Davies) married to Luther Morgans. They
married in Zion chapel Llanelli in 1914 which was Ada's chapel. Luther's
was down as living in Cefneithin, Llanarthney at the time of his marriage
but I know that he had connections in Felinfoel. Luther was a coal miner
and died in 1942 and they are both buried in Adulam chapel Felinfoel.
Luther's father John Morgans was an oil merchant on their marriage
certificate.
They had no children. Ada was one of my father's elder sisters and they
were 12 children so she was more like a grandmother to me than an aunt.
I don't know if this is of any help to you at all and I haven't pursued the
Morgans side but there might be a link for you somewhere.
Regards
Catrin Unwin ( nee Davies)

Hi P auline .This is to inform and to thankyou that the Evan Davies which
you found for me in the 1851 census is mine.I have located the marriege
certificate of Evan and Mary and the farm he was living in is where he married from
in 1852. But Mary was living at a place named Penycaerau in the same parish
as Evan., would this be another farm. Would like to locate if possible where
and who was living with their father's John Davies ,Evan's father a weaver
and John Williams for Mary a carpenter. As Evan and Mary were both born in the
parish in which they married am assumming that is where their father's are
living. Hope you san assist. Regards Alun.
John hi,
My earliest Morgans , 1791 were from Pembrokshire , Redberth .I am at the moment trying to trck the children of Lewis Morgans senior 1791 and Martha Whitta 1794 marriedcirca 1820 Redberth
Lewis Morgans the last child .
He was established in Britannia Rhondda Glamorgan , 1870 married Rachel Lewis of Mylett Farm ,LaugharneI in 18711. Their children were born and raised in Britannia where Lewis had a grocer's shop and sub post office . He died in 1884.
I still don't know if there was any relationship with Rhondda Morgans and Lewis went there to family or it just seemed a good place!
He appears to have had a job as a butler in Tenbby in 1851 I think .
Your location didn't ring any bells where are the places sorry poor geographer!
Happy hunting ,
Sue in LLantrisant
Hi
don't recall anyone mentioning this latest ancestry addition, apologies if
so
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx
Ancestry now offer the complete GRO (St Caths/BMD) indexes 1837-1983 to
view, FREE!!!
You get to see an image of the actual index page (not the original register
entry) - great for looking at the whole name range for each quarter/year
And FreeBMD is linked from the same page.
The only pain is supplying your email address, and downloading some viewing
software- but only takes a couple of minutes.
Hope this helps someone.
Kind regards
Amanda

Whilst you are on the subject of James, my Father had two cousins named
James,
who were related to the Howell family of the 19thC pubs fame. They were
rather aloof
on the strength of their medical knowledge, but they were not Howell
they were James.
There was Norman and Elizabeth (Betty) his sister who was an MD and died
in 1996.
Her married name was Glanville who was ent MD as well, in Southampton.
I am not in touch and cannot work out their link to the Howell family.
Where Howell/James met in the late 19thC?
Any help?
Gar

Hi Anna
Answered on another email....I do not have Llangadock registers.
CFHS members have finished indexing 1841 census Carmarthenshire, but, we do
not do lookups from them - I only do lookups from 1851.......1841 Carms
census indexes are now online with CFHS membership.......
thanks Pauline

Dear Pauline
I must apologise for confusing my Anne's when I e-mailed you yesterday I
feel really stupid.
This what I know:
She was married in 1855 and gave her father as James Vaughan, although her
maiden name was James. Her birth parish is either Llangadock (1861 and 1881
censuses) or Pencarreg (1851 and 1871 censuses). She was born around
1823-5, again varying with census.
I would like to find her in 1841 then if possible find her parents in 1851 -
she is not with them by then.
Thanks very much for your help
Anna
Hi Diane,
Some of the gravestones from St. Peters were moved to the Carmarthen Town
Municipal Cemetery at Lime Grove many years ago when the road was widened. From
memory they are mainly C18th and most are quite badly worn and difficult to
decipher. I think there are about 15 or so. I'm not sure when the cemetery
was opened but I have family buried there from the late C19th. Records for
burials are held at St. Peter's Civic Hall, Nott Square, Carmarthen SA31 1PG.
Tel. 01267 235199.
Hope this helps,
Yvonne Reid
Hello!
We are currently researching a branch of our family from John Edwards
(bap 1829 Abergwili, 1881 census Llanrhidian Higher and thereafter

We are hoping to establish more details on Edmund Edwards, his siblings

Dear Karen, We are trying to reply to your extremely helpful information

un-contactable we will try again in a few days. Thank you!
Best wishes,
Peter
