Wonder if somebody can help me with the marriage-record of Margaret Lloyd to
Thomas Hughes near 1870-1874.
Know that the couple had one boy, Thomas David Hughes, born in 1874 ( died
1920).
Margaret Hughes died in 1912 at Pensarnau, Llandyfriog. She herself was born
at Brynhedydd, Bettws Evan.
Son Thomas David Hughes must have married his Elisabeth Jones near 1895.
Think she was a Sunday-schoolteacher.
Elwyn - Netherlands.
Hi to the list and Pauline, the below info is just great. Thank you, thank
you. I do have Thomas and Anne in 1851 census, I missed this, someone kindly
found them under Morgans, which I had overlooked.
Great that you found Thomas Morgan baptized 1849 17th June. I just found an
IGI record for Thomas Morgan Sept. 23, 1850 so that matches. On 1861 census,
Anne Morgan sister of Morgan Morgan is shown born Abergwily 1857. So it may
be Morgan was born near there as well. Anywhere else I can look for that
record?
I was able to trace John Morgan and I have some older brother Evan Morgan
records, Evan married Hannah Griffiths (dob abt 1842) and was a grocer at
Llangeler, Glanrhyd; 1901 Llangler census shows "Retired Grocer, widowed." He had
no children, but left a will that I have a partial copy of a copy of (not the
date unfortunately) .. I have not found his death date as yet. I think it
may be 1908 - 1915..maybe.
The marriage 1830 27th July Cilhedryn Parish Church record for Thomas Morgan
and Anne Evans must be them. Your find led me to recheck the IGI record and
there is a record showing Thomas Morgan, birth about 1807 Lanblethian
Glamorgan married Hannah Evans birth about 1811 This is so exciting. Where is the
best place to write to find the Cilhedryn Parish record? .
When I started this search, we knew only that John and Morgan Morgan's
father's name was Thomas...(from Morgan's death record) and the family once lived
at Henfryn. Without your help as well as other great volunteers on the Wales
lists, I would never have found the family in Wales. I cannot thank everyone
enough.

Hello Pauline,
Good to speak to you again. Have been in hospital for a hip-operation and am
now recovering slowly.
Have been trying to trace these records for a long time, but no result yet.
What I know is the 1851 census. Thomas was born at his grandparents in
Llangeler ( Mountain Hall).
Think my great-grandmother was born at her grandparents from fathers side in
Kenarth. Evan and Martha Davies ( married Harries).
Her younger brother possibly at the mentioned farm Rhyrgodfwar. Father
Howell died already in 1856, so did her youngest brother Howell Jr. Found
him together with his father buried at Kenarth. Never found anything about
Evan, who also must have died in infancy.
Regards
Elwyn.

Pauline,
You recently mentioned that you have an index for the 1851 Carmarthen census. When you have the time is it possible to look up Eleanor (or Elinor) Price born either CAR Myddfai or BRE Llywel in around 1779. She is at Trechwml Myddfai aged 62 in the 1841 census and I have reason to believe that she survived past 1851. I believe that she might have been living with one or more of her married or unmarried daughters - Margaret or Mary or Gwen.
She is likely to still be in the general area of Llandingat, Myddfai, Llanddeusant, Llanfair ar y Bryn etc.
Thank you

Hi Marie
If you are requesting a marriage, birth or death certificate from Carmarthen
Registry Office (or any registry) they will do a five year search for you if
you have details.
If you require a birth cert for a popular name ie Sarah Davies, you need
approximate year and the name of her mother, as the births are indexed that
way.
If you wish to have a search in Carmarthen Registry Office the search is
free, if they find them you are expected to purchase the cert.
email address is
Registrars(a)carmarthenshire.gov.uk
They are really helpful and will help if they will...
regards Pauline

Hello again, thanks again to the list for all the replies and information on
my Morgan family in Henfryn. The list members who found that were great!
Sorry for the very late response to Pauline's msg. below. ( I am in a
move/muddle from one state to another.)
If anyone could look for a marriage between Thomas Morgan (s) (dob abt 1807)
and Ann (dob abt.1810) that would be great. I do not know Ann/Ana's last
name. I think their first child was Elizabeth, born about 1831 or 1832, making
the marriage 1831 or before.
On the 1861 Henfryn Llangeler census Thomas is shown born Llanblethian,
Glamorgan and Anne born St. Peter's Carmarthen. On the 1841 census, Thomas is
shown born Bridgend, Llanblethian.
I think Thomas died in 1895-1896 -- I found a Dakota news item for his son
John Morgan dated June 1896 stating "...John Morgan's father has died and
John has gone back to Wales On the 1881 census Thomas is still at Henfryn 72,
widowed w/children Thomas, Susan and Anne.
The children found on the St. Peters baptism list were Evan, Mary, Rebecca,
Susanna, Catherine, & Martha Morgan and were all baptized same day June 30,
1846.
I would most like to find a birth/baptism record for Morgan Morgan (born
30, June 20, 1852-1853? Newchurch Carmarthen) and his brother Thomas,(abt 1850
Newchurch, Carmarthen?) As far as I know only Thomas's sons John and my
grandfather Morgan came to the US/Canada so there may be descendants of this
large family (12) still in Wales.
I have some records for older brother Evan Morgan, (born Dec 1832?
Carmarthen married to Hannah Griffiths, grocer, no children). He left a will, but I
have only a part of a part of a copy. Evan is in Llangeler in 1891 and 1901,
and death date should be around 1908 maybe a few years either way...I sent
for a death record but it was not found.
By the way on the 1861 census there is a Tudor James, uncle age 66 living
with the family. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Pat Morgan MacE

Dear Listers
It may be a shot in the dark, but here's hoping someone can turn up a few of my missing links!
At the time of the 1851 census my HAVARD family (originaly from Pembrokeshire) was living in Swansea :-
William Havard head 39
Margaret wife 29
William son 12
Henry son 6
James son 4
Thomas son 2
George brother 29
Wife Margaret died and was buried in Swansea in 1853.
William remarried in 1857 in Haverfordwest and the family appeared to have remained there.
However, on the 1861 census return sons William, Henry and James are not mentioned, nor brother George.
I have checked for death registrations to no avail.
They don't appear to be in Pembrokeshire or Glamorgan.
Any chance they are in Carmarthenshire???
Fingers crossed!

I would be very grateful if you could send me the Thomas info you have if it
is not to difficult. I am happy to receive as an attatchment to me at,

Sue, I have a one year old in St Clears but not in Llanddowror or Laugharne,
there is an 8 year old in Llanddowor, there are 10 in Laugharne but youngest
is 5.
In my 1851 complete index I have 1152 Mary Thomas's.....
Do you have her marriage certificate stating name of father, that would
help.
Pauline

Pauline.
Free bdm has three births for Mary Thomas,LLanddowror comes into Carmarthen
.Family search only shows the 1881 census entry in Lewis Morgans Household
in Porth Rhondda.
All three are June 1850 which would fit but which one ??? this is why I was
hoping to get something from 1851 census for the family.
Mary records her birth place as LLanddowror. and age as 30 in 1881 by which
time she is a servant with Rachel Lewis who has married Lewis Morgans.
Cheers,
Sue in Lantrisant
