Hello everyone,
Can someone help me with this problem - the birth certificate of my ancestor

Hello again.
I'm running out of superlatives. Never dreamed I could learn so much so
soon.I'm a little surprised that the Sandfield houses are still
standing. even wondered what they sell for these days. Must have a
friend take a digital pic and e-mail it to me.
Came across the term "superannuated' with respect to a gggrandfather
from Dale. Pem. who was a lighthouse keeper. Does it mean "in receipt
of a pension" or just "retired".
Again. Thank you. A hug would be better but that must be in spirit
only.
Vaughan.
HI Vaughan
Glad that I have been able to assist.......I have come across William Lewis
in 1871 now......I'd better check 1861 again....

William Lewis Head single 57 Pilot born Pembrey

Next door there is a Richard Lewis wonder if any connection? Rogers Row was
next toSandfield House, and Spring Gardens....
Sandfield Row and Sandfield Terrace are the same place, these houses are
still there, they are cottages just off the main street of Burry Port.
I have now found the family in 1861 census....

Mary Lewis wife marr 76 born Pembrey
William Lewis son single 47 pilot born Pembrey

I will check through 1851 again to see how I missed them.....hope this
helps.....Pauline

Hello from Kansas City. Is it possible to access the Hermon Baptist Church
Cemetery records? Is it an active cemetery still with the possibility of
having a sexton? I am searching for records of Morgan and Mary Hughes.
(and possibly others in their family). I f this cemetery is indexed in any
location I would like to purchase a CD or send for records. Thanks for
any help you can give. Cherlyn

The speed of the responses is incredible but I'm not complaining.
Mea culpa. I should have added that Anne Jacob was a Widow when she
married William Lewis July 4/1872.
In the 1881 Census they were shown as living at 1 Sunny Bank,Pembrey.
A son, John, aged 6 and a daughter,Mary, aged 3 were the only family
members shown - William was now 65 !.
John (my grandfather) was born Sept.17/1874 at Sandfield Terrace.( no
street number given) You refer to 6 Sandfield Row as the residence of
Robert Lewis and family which might be the same as Sandfield Terrace if
not the same house.
You also quote Jerusalem Chapel as the burial place of Robert Lewis,
76 in Feb.19/1862. This is where gfather John was buried Feb.12/1943.
Coincidence? I suspect not.
The Waters info was more than I could have hoped for. Thank you so
much for everything.
I must now take time to digest all of my new found knowledge.
Thank you again. I hope I can help someone else as well someday.
Vaughan.
Hello Vaughan
You are right about Pauline - she does work very hard on behalf of all
of us.
However - re Pembrokeshire , although there are two other lists that
cover Pembrokeshire - we on this list also have an interest as there was
a lot of movement of people ( and some records) over the borders
between Pem and CMN .
I , in particular, have a great interest in Pembrokeshire and have
collected several resources here in order to follow up my family and do
some look-ups for others.
So - if you have anyone you want to follow up - let me know.
Cheers
Pat

I'm a newcomer to this service and a relative-no pun intended-
beginner. Before I say another word I must express my wonder and

I have failed to find the actual birth dates of the happy couple and

I tried to send a message to the other list, and it hasnt appeared, so dont know where it has gone.
I have a part of map I got from Carmarthen R.O, Ref OS sheet SN63, and that has Twrdu on it, it doesnt look like a farm the writing is very small.
I am not sure of copying my copy, perhaps someone can tell whether this is ok or not.

morning,
I have to agree with Merv. If I happen to not call up my emails for a couple of days, I end up with several dozen if not over a hundred to churn through, being subscribed to 3 or 4 lists. All titles which I feel are not relevant to my research are hence deleted immediately. Thats a risk I have to take.
On the other hand though, if a list seems to be a bit quieter than usual, I check the online archives at rootsweb. All postings are contained there, and it then saves my server being clogged up with several "Testing" messages.
Rant over.
Thanks

Hello the list,
Now here's a thing! There's been a lot of traffic ... 12 posts in the last couple of days, that's just under a third of all posts ... with the subject tag "testing". Silly me, there I was ignoring them! thinking they were people checking the list was open for business; never for one moment thought these posts actually contained 'real' information that may have been useful.
It was only by chance I spotted these ... it was the Thomas posters that caught my eye ... and although the information in them wasn't pertinent to my research, it could have been and I might well have missed it.
No wish to grumble but don't you think information is too valuable a commodity to risk it getting lost through lack of attention to the tagline.
Happy trails ...
Merv Thomas
Looking for JOHN in Pentyrch ... doing OK
Looking for THOMAS in Llanfihangel Rhos y Corn ... like nailing custard to the wall, this lot!
