Pauline,
Could you possibly run Samuel/Sem Evans through the 1851 census for Conwil
Caio. please. Born c.1849. Your info re Conwil Elfed interesting. Just need
to double check though in case it was Caio not Elfed.
Colin of Radyr.
Could SKS tell me who was the blacksmith in Llangadock in the early part of
the 20th Century and his address. I understand that my great grandfather
John Davies lodged with him. Thank you.

I would be grateful of any help - i am trying to locate which LLanfihangel David Thomas came from. On the 1901 census he is shown as age 38 married to Margaret(formerly Jones). He was born in Carmarthen Llanfihangel;however there are several in that area how do i know which one? Please can anyone help?
hi Anna
No connection i'm afraid, but I have a CHRISTMAS family (including 2
Mary's!) in Steeple Morden in Cambridgeshire 1841.
My CMN connection is the family of Jonathan and Esther HARRI(E)S from
Blaenfos in Trelech ar Bettws. Their daughter Esther is my gggrandmother,
born 25/06/1839.
Jonathan and Esther WILLIAMS married 08/02/1823 in Merthyr Tydfil. I have a
possible baptism of Esther in Merthyr from 1806, parents Edmund and
Elizabeth THOMAS.
The HARRI(E)S family is living in Blaenfos in 1841, 51 and 61, by which time
'my' Esther is living in London. I have assumed that Jonathan and Esther
have died by 1871 as I can not find them then. However I have not been able
to confirm this. They were non conformists and I found some baptisms in
Capel-y-graig Trelech.
Any info on these families would be most helpful!
TIA Janet

Hi Anna

1881 and William married my great Aunt Mary Jane Layer from Carmarthen in
1887, first wife Mary, and William Had two daughters, Florence and

Rootsweb have had a problem with mail being bounced yesterday & Today,
unfortunately, some listers would have been unsubscribed if they happened to
send more than 3 messages during this period, hopefully they will
re-subscribe.
Rootsweb now seem to have it under control.

Hi Joy
My Christmas family connection is on my husband's side: his mother, a
Christmas, was born in Euston and I do know that some of her ancestors came from
Sussex. However, the Christmas family must have started somewhere and the
thought that they could possible have come from the Llangadock area at some time
grabs my attention as my own Davies/Rees families come from there. Luckily,
Christmas is a much easier name to trace than Davies, Rees or Thomas (my
married name). I haven't researched the Christmas side since 1837online came
into being so perhaps it's time I tried again!
I think my biggest brick wall is that of John Davies who married Elizabeth
Rees in Llangadock in 1858, she was from Llangadock but he was from Pencarreg
and I haven't got any further. Perhaps I'd better revert to Christmas family
research as that is somewhat easier.
Best wishes,
Anna
Pauline, I sent this message yesterday morning in answer to a question you
asked me. I may be one that you didn't receive. Thanks!
Darla
-------------
Thanks very much, Pauline! Jane's maiden name was Bowen and I estimate that
she was born about 1788 (shown as 73 in 1861 census and 50 in 1841 census).
Her father's name may have been John. I believe I've identified her brother
Lewis Bowen and his christening record says father John mother Cheriton (Merthyr
Tydfil 1793). Also I think I found a sister Ann Bowen and her christening
record says father John mother Charity (St. Peter's CMN 1796).
Something else that might help me find her parents is her marriage record - I
know that you looked this up for me once before, but would you look again to
see if there are witnesses listed? I've just been given advice to look for
witnesses - I didn't know they were listed before 1837. Bride Jane Bowen, groom
David Morgan, marriage Dec. 12, 1809 at St. Peter's CMN.
Both she and her husband have been major brick walls for me for many years.
Thanks again!
Darla
I have been unsubbed automatically, so have just put myself back on......if anyone has not had an answer when the message was directed to myself please resend....
thank you Pauline
