Hello Richard
I have tried to access Quickbase today. I cannot get into the members
databases.
I registered a few years ago, but haven't usde them for a long time.Do I
need to re register with you or am I just not accessing them properly? They
recognised my email and password, but wouldn't recognise Carmarthenshire in
the search box.
Hoping you can help.

I am looking for George EVANS b. 1832 and his family. George married
Fannie ? b. 1836 and they had children Eliza (Liza) b. 1857, George b. 1860,
Louisa b. 1862, Margret Ann b. 1864 all in Wales and two other children
Thomas b. 1867 and Sarah "Sallie" b. 1870 in Pennsylvania, USA. They
emigrated to the US in 1866. Fannie and their children departed from
England to come to America. George and Fannie's parents were also Welsh.
I have census reports from 1870, 1880 and 1900 in the US. It is unclear
whether Fannie (or Fanny) is a nickname or not. George's occupation in
1866 and 1870 was a coal miner and in 1880 he was an Inn Keeper, proprietor
of the local hotel, until his death in 1889.
I have not been able to find them on the FreeBMD nor have I been able to
locate any children, as these were popular names.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find out where they lived in Wales.
Could anyone tell me if they are on the 1861 census? I know this is a shot
in the dark but at least I can rule it out. Any help in trying to pinpoint
a location for them is greatly appreciated.
Are there any sites available which might help me figure out where they
came from?
Thanks.

Hi Pauline,
I have a few questions for you, first will you be attending any Family
History Fairs in April and if so where would they be?
If you still have access to the records of llandeilo Fawr I am looking for
two entries one is a birth of Elizabeth Davies between 1795 - 80, and a
birth of Thomas Evans from about 1785 - 95. They married in Llandeilo Fawr
in November of 1816. In the 1841 Census Elizabeth has her age down as 45?
Thanks
Anne
I'm trying to locate my Cosslett/Coslett ancestors who I believe came from the Llandyfan/Llandybie area. They were Calvanistic Methodists, and I understand that there was a Calvanistic church in Llandybie (Jerusalem) as well as a church in Llandyfan.
Can anyone tell me if the parish records still exist?
Sorry getting confused Lewis MORGAN BORN 1834 and his wife Rachel Lewis born 1838
If anyone could find Lewis Morgan and family 1841 census or any up to 1881 would be really so pleased.
Apologies for eror in first mailing
Best wishes
Sue in LLantisant ,glam
Hullo could sks look for Lewis Morgan and family in Redberth where he was born in 1838. I can only find him in 1881When he is married with a family.
I am not sure which Census were done after 1841.
In 1841 he would have been 3years
I would be so glad to receive any information.
I know we are not supposed to send virus warnings to the list but hopefully
I'll be forgiven
When I was checking my emails this morning using Mailwasher
(www.mailwasher.net) I saw a couple of odd looking emails one of which
purported to originate from members(a)carmarthen.gov.uk and with an
attachment. I viewed the "body" of the email and it just said "here it is"
so I naturally deleted it.
Of the others one came from a cousin's "old" email address and the other
came from a Hampshire. gov address.

Hi Pauline
Well we're back in Hampshire at last. so sorry about the total mix up
concerning Tuesday's proposed visit to the record office. I wasn't sure
whether you were going to make it anyway, but felt I couldn't not turn up.
Hence a call on the mobile instructing Elizabeth on how to send you a
message on my computer!! Anyway you obviously got it straight away, which
was good.
So I return still clutching the details I wanted to check, never mind. Our
friends have moved to Mumbles, so we will be down quite often staying with
them and will try to manage a break when the record office is open - maybe
Easter or half-term in May, failing that the summer hols.
Sorry again for the muddled arrangements - or lack of them!

The Bowen origin, created from ab Owen (ap is changed in front of vowels to
ab)
changed over from ab Owen to Bowen at various times in different areas, in
Aberavon
Glamorgan Wales for example :-
Evan ab Owen - Hearth Tax 1670 Baglan Lower (within the Borough of Avan)
Evan ab Owen and Hopkin Ab Owen - Leet Court 1700 (Borough of Avan)
Their surnames were then written as ab Owen or Bowen depending upon the
recorder of the Court between 1701 - 1706.
Hopkin Bowen - Leet Court 1706 (Borough of Avan) Evan no longer listed,
name now permanent and was so down to my/g/grandmother before she married in
1850. and her parents and siblings and their descendents to Lydney 1891.

Hi Pauline
When I try to unsubscribe from the "L" list I get a message telling me I
"have not been removed. You are not on the list." I don't know what that
means. Please advise. I prefer to subscribe to the "D" list which I am
already getting. Your assistance would be appreciated.

I am trying to eliminate a John Bowen who married in 1751 in Aberavon
to Catherine Howel daughter of Edward Howel a burgess of Neath. The bond
indicates he possibly came from Llanon Carmarthenshire.
Did he go with his bride back to Llanon or somewhere Carmarthenshire
and bring up a family. Anyone able to check Llanon for Bowen born to
John and Catharine or Catherine shortly after 1751?

No Anne.......they are going to stop doing paid research that the public
want done....they want private researchers to do it instead.....

Does anybody have a connection with Elizabeth Sarah Evans? She shows up as a
niece with David and Hannah Walters, and sons William and David Daniel in the
1901 Census. I have a Margaret Evans (Davies) but I don't think its the same
family as the two branches didn't join up until about 1909.
Anna
Hi Pauline,
By stopping research altogether - do you mean that they will not allow the
public in to look at their records?

Thank you. Would I be correct to assume that the date shone, 1 Sep 1833,
is Margaret Davies's baptism date which is also probably close to her
date of birth? That is a very useful piece of information.
