Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Elwyn
Have you tried the registry office, not the archives, as these are two
different places, although sharing the same postal address......
Give them all the information you have and they may be able to assist you.
If the archives have checked the parish registers and not there, seems as if
they must have been non-conformist again....
I'll see if I have her in any of my indexes.....

Wonder if somebody can help me with my search for the deathrecord of Sarah Davies, Mountain, Llangeler.
Widow of Daniel Danies, who died in 1842 at age of 64.
Sarah Davies nee Evans was in 1861 census at Mountain, 73, widow with a Evans-grandson and servant.
Could not find her in 1871 census, so think she must have died between 1861-1871.
Does somebody have acces to Llangeler-parish records?
Her family came from Penboyr, so she could have stayed somewhere else when she died.
Carmarthen Archives could not find her.
sincerely,
Elwyn - Netherlands.
Hi John
I have looked at the folio numbers for Carmarthen which you supplied......a
folio number is page number which covers 2 pages of the census.......so
different households are named.....
In folio 226 Spurrels Yard I can see John Jones a widowed shoemaker aged 26
born Carmarthen with 4 children and a servant..
In folio 319 there is a Daniel Jones 30 farmers son mother Mary aged
74.....so this is not the Daniel you require.
Have you searched all of Carmarthen Town for 1851? 1851 is currently being
indexed do you think they may have moved elsewhere?

Hi Pauline
What do you make of this? I sent records of two marriages by email to a lady on this list who lives in Australia, I sent them off quickbase (members) I never had a reply so I sent them again with a short note a week later I had an email of a lady in Boston America (I do not know her she doesnt belong to any geneaolgy list) thanking me for my time, but was quite puzzled by the marriage record that she had recieved four times from me, (well I cracked up) I wrote back and apoligised she was quite nice about it, but she told me to check quickbase as she uses it for her work, now the person who should have got the records
(Liz) were sent to this person called Elizabeth.
Do you have an explanation Pauline or is it just gremlins
having a laugh? I thought the whole thing was quite funny.
PS dont forget Stephen and Susannah Thomas "Kidwelly Fach" in 1861 or 71 when you next visit the RO.
Cheers

Can somebody tell me if Ty-isha, Hengoed is still there.
My Robert(s) ancestors were there between 1760-1840.
Father Edward Robert and his wife Margaret.Later son Edward Robert and his wife Ann Bonnell.
Can somebody find them in 1841 census?
Son Edward then in his fourties.
See Cherlyn Bruns also taking about a Ty-isha.Is there another farm in Llanedi,Llannon or Llangennech area?

Hello listers;
My gr gr gr grandfather, James Jones b. ca 1796 was married to Hannah Davies, and had four children; James
Jones b. 1 Apr 1817, Daniel Jones b. 6 Aug 1820, Benjamin Jones b. 9 Mar 1823 (my gr gr grandfather) and John Jones
b. 29 Oct 1825.
Hannah (Davies) Jones died prior to 1840 and in 1840, James Jones, along with sons James and Benjamin, emigrated to the U.S.
Daniel Jones, a tailor by trade, and John remained in Carmarthen.
I searched the 1851 census and found a Daniel and John Jones of the correct age in Folio 226 and 319. I have to ASSUME that "Folio" represents a household. Am I correct? If so, was it commonplace for multiple families to live under one roof?
A distant relative told me that he had found Daniel Jones in Carmarthen in the 1881 census, married and working as a tailor and part time gate keeper.
I need lots of help in sorting this out. Any help you can offer would be deeply appreciated.

Llangadock......living here is a Rees Williams farmer wife Ann, children
Margaret 9, Mary 3? Margaret Jones mother in law, Thomas Williams 22 servant
and Margaret James servant....
I only typed in 'Hirll' which brought this up, if it was spelt differently I
have not looked for it...

do you think this could be them?
I have not come across "Open Air" in the census.....I have come across many

Hi Pauline
Some time ago you very kindly provided me with some information from the
1851 census on Thomas Lewis. This set me off on a new tack and I have now
been able to trace the family over all the census up to 1901. However Thomas
married Anne Williams in 1872 and she has the following entry in the 1871
census.
Hirllwynganol, Llangadock
Ann Williams head aged 25 General servant born in LLangadock
Mary Williams sister aged 21 Dressmaker born in Llangadock
Catherine Williams sister aged 10 scholar born in Llangadock
Her father's description from the marriage certificate is Thomas
Williams, deceased, general labourer and she is living at Hirllwynganol at
the time of her marriage.
I could not find the family in either the 1861 or 1851 census where I would
have expected them. Any suggestions?
Whilst looking through 1851 and 1861 census I found an entry for a dwelling
described as "Open Air" with entries for a number of vagrants.I have not
come across this before.
Many thanks
Russ
Sarah let me know when David Lewis was born and where......

I hope this is the information that you need.
David Morgan Lewis was born 16 Sept 1822 Cayo, Carmarthenshire He was the second son of 9 children of Joseph and Mary Lewis . I have lots of info on David.....as he came to the states in 1856 with some of his children.
It is his parents that I am trying to get more information on.....
On the original notice I sent regarding Joseph Lewis I should have put the following
Died: 15 Jan 1859 Tynlan, Llanwrda, Carm. Wales
buried: 19 Jan Cayo Village Church, Cayo, Carm Wales. and for h is father make it Lewis Reese Lewis..
Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
I have found five of David Morgan Lewis's brothers and sisters here in the states. Just can't find any information on his parents.
Thanks again

Hi.Pauline ,Thanks for your mail, even negative info is useful.
You did send me some Rachel Lewis detail some time ago which I have been
working on for a few months with no success until some mailing between me
and John Ball has wonderfully unravelled the Lewis side even to finding the
farm for Milllet read Mylett. As a result I now have some wonderful
photographs courtesy of John Ball and have been able to make contact and
check out facts with a relative with whom I share my Gt grandmother Rachel
LEWIS and her younger brother William LEWIS new reli's Gt grand father. Was
going to mail you more succintly when I had everything together.Very heady
stuff when it happens. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN THE STORY AGAIN.
Lewis MORGANS 1834 Redberth and his family are my next project, need a
lucky break to start things off! Will see if he is hiding in Glamorgan.

Since I get no replies to any of my queries maybe some one can advise me as what I am doing wrong. I watch others request information and their replies go directly to them and you will see a thank you on here. I did at one time send a request to the Carmarthenshire FHS and was told best to post it here. I have checked the CD's and on line things available to me thru the FHS but to no avail. The information I posted on this list on the 9/23 was from the LDS records.

Her name was Elizabeth Davies. She was born 1873 in Caio. This is a
difficult one in that I am not sure of her heritage, as it is. I have found her on
the 1901 Census, then again on 1881. On 1881 Census, she is stating as living
with grandparents in a place called Glanrhyd (Benjamin and Mary Davies) with
another grandson called Thomas and a labourer called John Davies. I looked up
1891 and it stated that she was then living next door in Pantglas with this
John Davies. This marries up with her marriage certificate. Even though she
put on her marriage certificate that her father was a retired farmer called John
Davies, he is always put on the Census (1891) as single and on 1881 as a
labourer, same age as Grandfather. This confuses me as to whether or not he
really is the father. Then there is a rumour that she may have been the offspring
of a liasion with Johnes family of Dolaucothi, she certainly inherited from
them. Although family members say they thought her (Elizabeth) parents were a
servant and on of the sons of the mansion, my findings are that there were no
sons, only Judge Johnes and two daughters. However family rumours say there
was a mention of a sea captain and school master. So you can see my headache!
Also rumour her mother's name was also Elizabeth - which made me start
thinking of Betha Jones, the daughter of Dolaucothi. So all I can do is start from
her death certificate and work backwards, to delete any red herrings and/or
hearsay, family gossip.
Greatly appreciate your help
Regards
Helen
Hi Pauline,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I just thought Carmarthenshire Registry would

She died in London although born in Caio. I will email Carmarthen and let

Hi Pat,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I know that my great grandmother died at St.
Thomas's in London and what she died of. I know roughly a date within 2 years.
I am trying to get her death certificate so that I can then work back to get
her birth certificate which is a nightmare!
Would this BMD help?

Helen
