Please, Pauline,
In my official capacity as security guard (temp) at the Weston Super
mare Fair on July 5th 2003, I must inform you that the handcuffs
(plastic) are for restraining anyone who enquires " Can you help me
please?" The platform shoes (convert me from 5ft 5inches to 6ft 9
inches) and the plastic mac because rain is forecast....? AND... bathing
costume.... a dip in the Weston sea, weather and tide permitting;))
Umbrella...... as above.
I will also bring along a snorkel and flippers so that I can if
necessary escape back to Barry, Porthcawl, Swansea or even
Llanelli...... Perhaps you and Richard might also consider this option
to get back for the birthday party?!!
Seriously, before the FHS Police take me away, I will be helping out at
the Gwent Sales desk. We have buses from Gwent to take us and are hoping
for a large Gwent contingent.

Hi Pauline,
I am trying to find the marriage of Rachel Morgan, born 1808, daughter of Jonathan and Frances Morgan, of Pantybryn,Ammanford, who married Herbert Morgan, of Tyllwyd, Ammanford. I think this would be about 1832.
Could you please help. Many thanks.
Nancy
Hi Pauline - I don't have them in 1841 as yet - sadly - this would probably
be the best one as the children just might all still be at home with David
and ?. I have posted a message on the other list this morning but it has not
rung any bells so far. They do not appear to be in Glamorgan in 41 or 51.
Thanks for all your efforts - Gwyn. Hope to see you at Llantrisant.

Carmarthenshire FHS
Good afternoon Pauline,
It has been a long time since I have written. I have recently recieved the remainder of the "stuff" from our parents household. In this "stuff" I have come across a old Welsh Song Book.I am wondering if you can give me any history of this book.
The book is titled.....Gem Selection
Songs of Wales.
In the inside of the cover it has a label from Fred J. Read,
The Music Salon,
124. Churchfield Road,
Acton, W.3
It is dated 8 June 1934 and made out to Mr. Jenkins, 37 Woodhurst Rd., W.3 To Music.......this is hand written.
On the next page it reads in handwritting:
To my friend Dave Morris ( my grandfather ) with the very best Old country Wishes...W.W. Jenkins
The book is in a forest green fabric and the lettering on the book front is in gold colour.
In the inside there is a picture of a man and his name underneath is given as " Ceiriog"
The book was published by Anderson Publishers in Edinburgh. There seems to be a picture associated with evey song in the book.
I know my grabdfatheer had a hymn book and it was returned , by my mother, to the chapel in Burry Port where my grandfather was born.
I would love to know something about this book as it is one of the few things I have of my grandfather.
Thank you for any info that you may be able to provide and do have a great day.........PS.the triplets are doing just great.......3 in September !!!!..................Patty Carter ,,,,very warm BC,Canada
Pauline,
Will look into it, see what I can find.
The family appear to have been around Vale of Glamorgan a very long time,
there is a Lewis Alexander in the 1670 Hearth Tax Assessments for Glamorgan,
probably the same man as recorded living in 'Burroughs' Barry area 1684.
I have located the Pilot Cutter 'Kindly Light' 1911, which was built to order
for Lewis, grandson of Lewis & Martha. Lewis jnr., the grandson, was son of
William Alexander [son of Lewis 1st] and his wife Selina Deere, who would be
a gt. niece of the Llanelli Deeres earlier enquired about. Anyway I will put
together what I have on the descendants of Lewis 1st and Martha and send over
weekend.
Would love to know how Lewis and Martha met up, no doubt as a mariner he
would have sailed down to Carms.
Best wishes,
WENDY
HI Denise
Let me know what you have before I come, as on the day we have no time at
all for research.....there are only the two of us, and cannot bring our
indexes with us which are all on computer, the last time we used my
indexed computer in one of the Open Days Richard dropped it and lost all my
work......so we do not do that any more!!!
Give me what you have and perhaps I could locate here for you....
Looking forward to seeing you.....BUT, look out for the Very Tall Man in
platform shoes, bathing costume/umbrella/plastic mac/and wait for
it ---handcuffs.......waiting to cart us away, he's a member researching
Carmarthenshire toooooooooooooo. (goes by the name of Barrie of Gwent

Thanks for your efforts Pauline- just in case you come across something,
To answer the first question
The marriage of John Rawsbridge (which should have been Rasbridge) - Widower
and Elizabeth Jones - Widow took place at The Parish Church, Llanguick,
County of Glamorgan after Banns. Little wonder it took so much blood, sweat
and tears to find - I was looking for Rasbridge and Phillips. In 1859 when
the marriage took place Elizabeth was residing at Ystalyfera. Her father is
given as David Phillips - Deceased.
I was clutching at straws really when I suggested David and Mary as her
parents - it was the only one I found - this was when I believed Llandeilo
was her place of birth - before Breckonshire was mentioned. To answer the
second question - It does not appear that there were any children from the
first marriage (with her in 1861) only the children of John Rasbridge from
his first marriage and two new from this one. Ah well - it keeps me out of
trouble. Maybe I'll try looking in Powys. Thanks Gwyn

Hi Pauline,
To answer your questions . . .
he married, raised his family and died in Ynyshir, but that's not where he
was from. He was one of the many who left the land to seek his fortune in
the Rhondda coal fields I guess.
Thanks to everybody who've chipped in on this one . . . your help and advice
is much appreciated.
Happy trails...
Merv
Looking for JOHN around Pentyrch and THOMAS around Ynyshir . . . and
starting to find them :)
Now looking for THOMAS and BOWEN in Carmarthenshire too . . . that net just
gets wider and wider :)

I have a Ruth Bowen who married Morgan Daniel Davies in 1900, she was the daughter of William Bowen (coalminer), in 1900 she was living at Cwmfelin.
Any connection to the other Bowens?
Denise Melhuish
Thanks for heading south to Weston - I'll be coming to try and see if I can
knock down my brick wall over a certain David Davies.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Pauline,
I read all the List messages and get much enjoyment from them, but we are
off on holiday to walk and climb in the Austrian Alps, so would like to
unsubscribe whilst we are away to avoid the few hundred messages when I
return, and start again. Could you please remind me of the address to which
I must send the UNSUBSCRIBE message, which should cope with the
re-subscribing when we get back. I presume I can also scan the messages I
have missed on what I remember as an 'Archive' that keeps all the messages,
neatly arranged, but that address has also disappeared into space!
Best wishes, and much admiration for all that you do. Cheers Oliver.
