Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
As we know wills are a wonderful source of locating families.....I have a
will here which even names the animals....i.e.
1 horse called Drummer
1 mare called Mittle and a bay mare called Beauty
2 coults 3 year old called Janfet and Jack
1 coult called Duke and a philly called Roasy
2 year old coults called Quorker? and Sharpper?
1 horse called Boy
I thought this inventory was really intgeresting to read.....at lease we
know what the animals were called anyway....

Hello Dai
This is probabaly your Sara Oliver in 1881
The next records show two possibles for James Howell born Llanelly - the
first matches the age and the second I have added as ages in the census
are not always correct so there is just a chance that it may be the
second one.
Cheers
Pat

Thank you very much Pauline, but I know he was in Ebbw
Vale in MON in the 1840s until 1867 when he came to the

Kidwelly - Theft of the Church Plate A.D. 1782
A few days since some villains broke into the vestry room of our parish
church and stole the whole of the plate used in administering the Sacrament,
with which they got clear off. However one of them who offered a gilt cup
for sale the next day to Mr Edwards, a silversmith in Swansea, was
immediately secured by him, and taken before a magistrate in that town, and
after an examination of near three hours, committed to Carmarthen Gaol. His
name appears to be Evan Jones, and that he was formerly a servant at the Ivy
Bush Carmarthen. None of the other villains are yet found, though strict
search is being made after them.
**Extract of a letter from Kidwelly 1st October 1782, in the NLW.

Hi Helen
There are no monumental inscriptions for this burial ground - the graveyard
would have to be searched - if they had a headstone that is....this is quite
a large cemetary..

Pauline thank you so very much for looking for me. I have been "chasing" Robert Roberts for almost 20 years. Pauline, the JOHN BEYNON you found, i.e.
"1885 25th November 6 High Street Aberdare
William Beynon aged 13 years - no parents given, not even mothers name"
Doesn't fit.
Somewhere along the line, there was a name, or possibly a two name change, officially or unofficially from John Beynon (1881) to John Evans (1891).
There is also some question whether his name was "John" or William John".
Could please you recheck the St. Elvans registers for:
William John Evans
William John Beynon
If possible, since his parents were married on 31 Dec. 1870 at St. Elvans and BOTH gave their adress as "Llwydcoed", would it be possible and maybe simpler to checked for any boys baptised in late 1869 or in 1870, with any of the name combinations given above whose one parent or parents lived in Llwydcoed?
Just think what fun it would be if this church were built elsewhere, for instance, St. Elvans, Preselly.
Somewhere I've heard that HIS family was of Welsh descent.
Jos. Gregory
Mt. top, Pa.
Hi Vernia
I have the baptisms for Llandeilo Abercowyn he was not baptised in this
parish church.
Llandilo fawr parish registers are on film (most are for this parish) but
the early ones are difficult to read, and this is a very large parish to go
through - I have gone through these many times......Llandilo in the 1800's
seemed to be very affluent - quite a lot of Gentry lived here - there are
tithe maps 1841 and voters lists....
What information can you order via LDS - the parish marriages from 1794-1822
are lost so only the B.T's can be viewed for these anyway.....
You have to remember that many people were non-conformists in Wales, so
knowing if he was of the parish church would assist....if he was born in the
1813-37 range you maybe able to order in the relevant non-conformist films
too.
Most family researches can yield where an ancestor was not too....so all
avenues should be sought - it can take years to really pin-point some
people.....and research always seems to be ongoing.
regards Pauline

Many thanks for the helpful information....this really starts to shed some
new light on my research into the family. Apologies for not getting back
before now....I have to work to support my habit :)
I do believe this warrants a holiday out to Carmarthen to do some detailed
research. Now if I could only find the phone number of that cottage we
stayed at last summer......
Again, sincerest thanks....
