HI Anna
I have not covered these parishes for 1851 census as yet - but will be doing
so in the future.........so keep on asking, hopefully someone is researching
the same families as yourself.

Hi List!
Looking for information on Emily and David Harries children,
they were married in 1887 in Carmarthen, the six girls names are as follows.
Gladys, Gwen,Annie,Florrie (Florence)Maud,and Beattie,
(could be Beatrice) also a son William who married Tarma?
any info however small would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Judith
Hi Tom,
I thought there may be something on line that I could check - ie paarliament
house old members.
I have no way of being more precise and was hoping it was a way of finding out
who the relative was that my cousin wrote to during and after the war.
Sometime after the war was when he apparently was elected. His name was Hugh and
they lived at Manor Rd, Manselton, Swaansea in 1943.
Not much to go on I know. His wife's grandmother was the sister that stayed
behind when two brothers came to Aust. I have letters.
Thanks for your interest,
Erica.

Joseph -
I don't want to impose too much on you, but if you could find the date of death of Bessie Edwards and when and where she was buried, also the Christian names of her children, it would be appreciated. Alternatively, if you could give me an address to which to write, that would be fine. Tina has also promised to let me have some details.
The info re the name Forty Fort was very interesting to me as I have done some US history.
Nancy Evans
Tina and Nancy Evans; we took a ride over to
the Forty Fort Cemetery on Saturday. Although the
gates were open, the office was closed so we couldn't ask about the records
there on Dr. Edwards. We drove around in the cemetery hoping we'd see the
Edwards family tombstone but had no luck. The cemetery is quite large and by
American standards quite old (18th century) and surprisingly ill kept, at least
not as neatly groomed as other local cemeteries with a few stones
toppled.
In June 1972, Hurricane Agnes dumped over TWO FEET
of rain on the area and the Susquehanna went over it's banks. The Forty Fort
cemetery is on the west bank of the river and at a bend in the river. When
the river flooded it tried to straighten the bend and in the process plowed a
number of caskets, recent and old, out of the ground and floated them
and what was left of those interred, down the river. I hope the Edwardses were
not among those exhumed by the river.
I'll call the cemetery office and see what they
have but I'm fearful that unless some foresighted cemetery employee took the
records to higher ground, the records of the Edwards burials may too be
lost.
The local genealogy society may also be able to
help. I'll check with them.
As to the Christian names of the children, I'll ask
cousin Kay to see what the census has to
offer. Jos.

Hi Bernard
Have you tried an LDS (Mormons) Family History centre - you should be
able to order them for viewing.
I haven't been to any of them yet - but thought I might try the Merthyr
one sometime - presumably Swansea is your nearest?
Here is a list.
Cheers

Hi,
I think you will find that the marriage certificate reads: in the District
of Llandovery in the Counties of Carmarthenshire and Breconshire. I suggest
your next step is to search the appropriate Census that would include the
parents and son.
Anna
Hello Judy,
That dratted virus keeps altering the sender name to mine so I don't have your e-mail address.
Which Son of James Henry is your ancestor?
I will try to find out more but if you reply could you put your e-mail address in the text.

Is there anywhere in South Wales that I can order say Bristol/Mangotsfield
Census (1841&1851) for viewing ?
My uncle in Australia can get them, but I can't ...... crazy.
I have rung up Carmarthen RO and they can't help.

Hello Pauline,
Thanks very much for the entries. The only specific event known would be the
baptism Mary Hannah Nicholas say1877. Also, looking for other
possible siblings.
Your lookups much appreciated.

Kenneth
My g g grandmother Elizabeth MORGANS was born in Cynwyl Gaeo c 1813
according to the 1851 census. She married David PARRY in the Independent
Chapel at Pentre-ty-gwyn on 4 December 1840. The names of their fathers are
not included on their marriage certificate. David PARRY was born in
Llanfair-ar-y-bryn c 1812.
Have you come across either David or Elizabeth in your researching, please?
If so, I would very much like to hear from you.

Hi all,
I have received numerous lists of Welsh Nicknames, I did try to reply to
each individual but with the mailing load at the moment (168 today alone)
from various lists I have had to give up my job (only joking).
Anyway, thanks to all the donators - but I really need more of the unusual
ones.
Dai the Milk, Will the Buther are too obvious...

How about "Dai Book & Pencil", the local policeman, who always brought out

Hi there,
I have a marriage certificate for my paternal great grandparents:
John Davies, age 24 and Elizabeth Rees, age 25, both living in Felindre
Llangadock at the time of marriage, 10 March 1858. John was born in
Pencarreg and his father was David Davies, labourer.
I'm trying to trace back on John's side, so if anyone has access to the 1851
Census for Pencarreg could they please see if the family are there?
If anyone has the 1951 census could they please do the same for Elizabeth
Rees? Her father was John Rees a carpenter. She was from Llangadock and I
believe her mother was Esther. I think her maiden name was Thomas, the same
as my married name! My grandfather, Morgan Elias also married a Davies so
I've got a lot of common names in my family tree!
Thank you in advance for any help you can giv eme.
Anna
I have just updated my website with information on ships in port and in
coastal waters at the Isle of Man. There are a number of Dyfed sailors on
these ships, so it could be worthwhile searching if you are missing a sailor
in 1881 !
