Thanks so much for the look-up on the Luke family. It does sound like the
Lukes on the 1841 census could be who I am looking for. Eliz was 23 according
to her marriage license in 1867, listed as Drefsmaker. She and my
ggrandfather left for America in 1869 with their daughter Mary 6 months old.
She married Thomas Davies, one of the common names I am finding out.
I am still using Angel 9519 as E mail. it is all straightened out . Thanks
for answering.phyllis
Hello Pauline,
Thank you for the map reference. Davies is part of the name. Actually I am
looking for Rachel David married to David Davies who was born in Trelech,
Carmarthen. Their three sons, John, William and Samuel, were also born in
Trelech. Both Rachel's and David's fathers were named William. David Davies'
father was born in Pembroke, NK (according to the 1851 census, which I assume
means that the village was "not known." Rachel's father, William David, lived
in Penybont, Trelech, Carmarthenshire, according to a notation in the family
Bible. All of the Davies family, father, mother, 3 sons and a daughter, came
to the US in 1869.
Rachel was born about 1806/7 and David was born about1813.
Thank you again. Joyce
Hello Redwolf??
Thanks for your e-mail, I know we are Carmarthen look-up, but we do have
access for Glamorganshire - only because we do research there also.
I could not find your family anywhere in 1851!! You state she married in 1867
from Aberdare - do you have any idea as to her age. I have a David Luke from
Merthyr Tydvil in the 1841 census with wife Alice, and 4 children, one being
Eliza aged 8 months. Do you think these could be yours??
Let me know, hope you e-mail is sending you better messages now -
Regards Pauline - by the way what is your name?? nice to know who one is
talking to!!
Hello Evan
There is no baptism for a Mathew Rees in Llanrhidian Gower. I have the parish
registers transcribed by Glam FHS - there is no Matthew/Mathew under the
surname Rees!! Or even a Rees with the surname Matthew!!--
Could he be anywhere else??

Hello Rod
Yes we have burials in the master burials there are about 16 in all, covering
St Peters Carmarthen, Pembrey and Llanelly. There are 17 marriage bonds, and
13 wills. If you want any wills send the extra money with your membership and
I could order some of these for you if you so wished. A will can give you so
much information. There are quite a few early ones.
I believe I have given you the early baptisms from Pembrey and Llanelli. Did
you contact Reusch for the money order I believe these to be the cheapest from
the US.

Hello again Jodie
Again the questions with the naming patterns in Wales - it depended on the
children - I can quote from my family background pre 1900.
In 1851 when Thomas Davies married Hannah Jones - they named their children
William, Thomas, Daniel, Henry, Dinah, Catherine, Margaret, Sarah, Mary.
Their daughter Catherine (g g aunt) who married a John Charles - named her
children nearly exactly the same as her parents did, all after her parents and
siblings, along with John's parents. The Welsh were not very inventive in
naming their children, that's why Welsh genealogy is so hard to work out,
because they all named their children the same names - even cousins had the
same names, which is very rare today, especially for 1st cousins anyway.
We have done a list of popular names in Wales if anyone is interested.

Hello Listers
Dawn Veasey who has already volunteered to look-up entries from
CARMARTHEN TOWN Census 1851 and CARDIGAN TOWN Census 1851 has now offered to
look up
PIGOTS DIRECTORY 1830.
If anyone is interested in either of these e-mail Dawn at
dawn.veasey(a)virgin.net
Again, give as much information to help Dawn, especially name, age and known
siblings. Do not ask for too much information - and always acknowledge with a
thank you when you are given information - do not take it for granted - or you
may not get another chance!!
Thank you so much Dawn - it is very much appreciated - diolch!!

Hello Jodie
I do not think that Hankins or Hinkins is Welsh - Welsh names are usually

FBI WARNS OVER E-MAIL VIRUS
last updated 29/03/99 14:02
America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is so concerned about a
computer virus that it has issued a warning to commercial, government and
military organisations.
The virus, known as the Melissa Macro Virus, is thought to attack computer
systems via e-mails, sending the bug on from an infected machine to the first
50 addresses in a user's address book.
The virus is thought to be contained within a Word macro and will affect
version 8 or 9, and will also affect any further documents made in the Word
program.
The FBI statement warned users to check any e-mail messages that came with a
subject message that said "Important message from" and then contained an
unknown Word document.

Hello Listers
There is a virus around at the moment which is called 'Melissa' this virus
apparently has already brought Microsoft and Intel computers crashing.
It attaches itself to Microsoft Word files and when you open these files up,
the virus just grabs your computer.
That is all I do Know at this time.
There is a note from Rootsweb attached to this file
I have sent some MS Word files out this weekend, but they have been zipped etc
so I don't think they could get infected.

Richard James

Hi Pauline
How about sending me a history of Kidwelly, Pembrey and Burry Port
histories.
Also i have had trouble getting a pound check to you for membership,
but it's
coming soon!
Thanks

Hello Elaine
Hasn't anyone claimed this one for you?? I don't have information as late as
1894 - you would have to purchase the birth certificate I think. I found out
it was Ammanford for you,so that is the most likely place to write to and ask
for a certificate - it would give you the mother's maiden name then, allowing
you to progress further back.
I know it is a bind but this looks the likeliest way to find them !! If I can
help let me know, and if anyone else on the list knows of these let Elaine
know.

Hello Pauline,
According to the 1851 census, my 2 great grandmother was born in Conwyl,
Carmarthenshire. Could you tell me where that is located? Thank you. Joyce
I am looking for my grandmothers family. She was Elizabeth Luke, father David
Luke, she was married in Siloh Grenfach, Aberdare, district of Merthyl Tydfil
on Nov 13, 1867 She says on the marriage cert she resided at Trecynon,
Aberdare.
I am on your list as Angel9519 but because of the smut messages someone was
using my e-mail for they gave me a new listing.
Would appreciate any help you could give. thank s redwolf9
Hello Harriet
I am so pleased that I was able to help you with the details. Could Morgan
David been indexed under David Morgan - if so I have one as follows:
David Morgan - New York 1864 age 24
The time and place seems to fit - does the year. It could easily have been
indexed backwards. Onto the other people namely Thomas, Hannah and William
1880 - does this mean you are looking for them in 1880?
I found a Hannah Griffiths New York 1864 age 3
Is this one any good to you??
Let me know, nice to know when I can find someone - speak soon
