Hi Pauline,
The reason I asked about Devon, is because I picked up another cousin who is
closer to the line that I am inquiring about. And she is saying Devon. We
will get back to you after the Holidays. And I will let you know.
Thank you
Jean

Hi Pauline,
Can you tell me where Devon, Devonshire, England would be?
My Peter Smith was married in New Jersey. So I would be looking for a birth
Feb. 5, 1753, his father's name is Hezekiah Smith, he married first Mary,
second Sarah.
He married Mary approximately Dec. 25, 1735. No date for Sarah. Hezekiah had
5 children.
Family history is that Peter Smith was born in Wales.
I am sorry, I just don't have anymore info than that.

Hi Jane
Just to let you know that I have looked through my indexes for a marriage of
a Thomas Francis to a Mary - the following might be the one - pre 1837 you
can only have information from the parish registers - registration did not
begin until mid 1837 - and even then it was not law to register a birth,
marriage or death until 1875....................
4th July 1834 - Thomas Francis to Mary Griffith in Llanelly parish church.
hope this helps -
bye
Pauline

Subject: FRANCIS marriage
Dear Pauline,
I'm just sending this while I think of it- there is NO hurry for it.
Enjoy Christmas etc. first. Some time ago I may have asked you about the
family of Thomas Francis born in Llanelli about 1840. In marriage of
Oct.1st. 1864 he was a widower at 24yrs. who married Ann Davies,daughter
of John Davies. Ann was then 20 years old born 1844.. I have one 1851
reference to Thomas Francis , wife Mary and 6 children of whom Thomas is
the third at11 years but I don't have an exact reference. The LDS FHC in
Windsor Ontario is missing GRO references for years 1840-43 so I can't
look up Thomas' birth.
I noted that one daughter Sarah FRANCIS was 14 years' old born in
1836/7. Would this mean her birth would be traceable in register? That
way I'd learn their mother Mary's surname. I also have a reference
(IGI,I think) to marriage July 4th 1834.between Thos Francis and Mary?
so if that's correct it would also produce mother's surname and I could
then send away for the details.
I hope all this explanation makes sense.
There was another Thos. Francis a striker to a smith with wife Jane but
my Thos age 24years had a father who was aboilerman and the first Thos
with mary may be more of a possibility. I think census said engine
worker. I thought i'd just clarify for you what I think as there were 2
Thos Francis close to each other in 1851.
All the best for the new year. I have joined the Dyfed FHS now and
just received journal and my number but I can't put my hands on it!!
Typical of me.
Yours, Jane in Harrow, S. Ont.

Hi Graham
You are searching the members Web pages which are open to members of
Carmarthenshire FHS only, some of the parishes have marriages,
burials, baptisms, wills and bonds & fiats, some may only have
marriages, while others have one or more of the indexes, this depends
on how far we have progressed with the indexing of a particular area.
next year 2000, we will have more indexes available and a different
format which will give each member the same password to access the web
pages which can be changed on a regular basis, rather than the
existing way in which every member has a different password, there
will be a more efficient format for searching the indexes and several
other indexes will be added including the 1837 GRO marriage Index,
more burials, and a postcard exchange.
Hope this is more helpful to you and other members, the URL to search
the Llanelly BD&m's is at :
http://members.aol.com/cmnfhs1/
and search through 'Carmarthenshire Views'
Regards
Richard James

Ont.

Hi Pauline,
Can you tell me where Devon, Devonshire, England would be?
My Peter Smith was married in New Jersey. So I would be looking for a birth
Feb. 5, 1753, his father's name is Hezekiah Smith, he married first Mary,
second Sarah.
He married Mary approximately Dec. 25, 1735. No date for Sarah. Hezekiah had
5 children.
Family history is that Peter Smith was born in Wales.
I am sorry, I just don't have anymore info than that.
Jean
Thanks to everyone who checked out the web pages for me,
maybe I was not specific enough as to which pages I wanted checking,
but all in all I have the answers that they do work OK now.
Perhaps they took a while because the server didn't put them up
straight away, and if anyone looked before they were available they
would have had , a 'not available' notice.
I think Jim Nash you may have been looking at the members pages,
rather than the Carmarthenshire Web pages.
Thanks again everyone.

Hi Jean
No - anyone who is a lister can obtain information - if you require a
marriage look up or if you want us to check in a book etc.....
We are here to help researchers if we can, a lot of the listers are members
and have personal information and free look-ups from registers, along with
marriage print-outs of their choice.
We are a friendly list, I think so anyway, and if anyone can assist anyone
else on these pages, we will do so - quite a few have found common
interests.
speak soon
Pauline

Hi Pauline and Richard
Please may I have a lookup for any details on a Mary James who lived in
Lammas Street, Carmarthen, as of 1843. I think she may have been a
housekeeper or a nurse - but I could be wrong.
I would like to thank you both for all your assistance to me in recent
months, and generally for all the hard work you put in, which is obvious
from the vitality of this list.
Seasons Greetings

Hi Richard & Pauline.
I noticed on the members web " Llanelli Parish Church " page, that
records are available for......
" Parish Registers : Carmarthenshire Record Office Baptisms1684 -
1923 Marriages1684 - 1971 Burials1684 - 1930 "
Would it be possible to look up a record for William Howell who married
Elinor in 1790 and tell me two things. 1) The last name of Elinor 2)
Whether they produced a child in that year or the next.
Thanks for your time.
Graham Howell.
