Ancestry still has 152 books (DAR) the same amount they had some years ago.
I searched for Carman, and found Abigail & Capt. Hugh Dunn, and a number of
other Carmans, including Phineas (my DAR ancestor), but no John. Of course,
Phineas is a descendant of John according to my papers.

Very interesting -- I *think* Braintree is now inland and southeast of
Roxbury, the location of the Eliot Church where John, Caleb and Abigail
were baptized. In the 1630s maps show Roxbury connected by a strip of
land to Boston and it may be that Braintree was a port at that time.
