Bev--
Glad you found this of interest.
Henry Carman come to Virginia in 1723 as an indentured servant, I
believe that the contract for indentured servants entitled them to a suit
of clothes and a parcel of land at the end of their service.
The following may be the same person
Grant of 150 acres of land to John Senior and Henry Carman 10 May 1638 in
James City County Virginia at

and a mention of property of Thomas Carmon (which looks like "Cannon" to
me) adjoining a grant to Edward Amory in the Northern Neck.
This document is also at the University of Virginia library digital
collections

There was a
rumor in our family that one of our ancestors was an indentured servant.
Also, do you have the family of Samuel Carman, parents and grandparents or
descendants? We (cousins) are trying to find the parents of our
gggrandfather, Edmond Carman, who had a brother Samuel, which makes me think
there may be a relationship. Edmond and Samuel lived in Livingston Cty NY and
Allegany Cty NY and before that Cayuga Cty NY and we think before that
