My name is Mark.
In my review of the family records, the Carman and Burton Families were a very tight
group, as they like to marry one another. In the 1600 and 1700s, if you mentioned Burton
you were also say Carman in the same breath. And they liked to name their children by
their own names, which creates confusion for people today who would like to sort out
which William and which Rebecca did what.
You mentioned a Henry Carman. Who were his parents??? I am aware that John and Rachel
Burton Carman (married about 1735, Queen Annes County, St. Luke's ) had a son named
Henry Cully Carman. I don't know anything about him, other than he was referenced in
an Abstract Will for John Carman. He appeared to have been the oldest son because he
inherited land, son William Burton Carman only received 2 shillings.
