Anne-- I am guessing you are the same as aMikael(a)home.com
There is a Canadian Carman from New Brunswick who was a well known poet
and lived in NY.
William Carman m. Sophia Bliss
Their son was William Bliss Carman 1861-1929 born in Fredericton, NB
Canada.
Sorry I dont actually know the ancestors here but he was a descendant of
Richard Carman of Long Island, a loyalist who went to Canada. Richard's
brother was a Colonial for the American forces, and they descended from
John and Florence Carman who came to MBC in 1630s.

Subject: The Sarnia ADAMS Family
Surname: CARMAN, WOLHAUPTER, ADAMS
-------------------------
I would appreciate any help, corrections and/or additional information
with the following individuals. A hearty thank you in advance!
In the 1861 Lambton County census, Joshua ADAMS is listed as Methodist,
a barrister, 36 years old and born in Ontario. Two others are listed: Anne,
age 33, Anglican and Hester A., age 12, Methodist.
Joshua later married Harriet Amelia CARMAN, widow of George Phillip WOLHAUPTER.
Harriet was b. abt. 1830 in New Brunswick d/o William Carman. She had a
son, Benjamin WOLHAUPTER, b. September 08, 1859 in New Brunswick who is
buried at Lakeview Cemetary, Lambton County, Sarnia.
I believe Joshua and Harriet married about 1869.
The 1871 Ontario Census shows a George A. CARMAN. Birthplace: New Brunswick,
age: 32, ethic origin: English, Occupation: bank clerk, religion: Church
of England, living in Sarnia Twn., Lambton County. Could this be Harriet's
brother? Abit of wishful thinking maybe.
I'm interested in knowing anything of the ADAMS, WOLHAUPTER and CARMAN
families. Who was Joshua's first wife? Did Harriet and Joshua have any
children together? Are there any descendants living in the area still?
Where might they be buried? When did they die? Who was William Carman?
Why would Harriet come from New Brunswick to Ontario? Etc.
