Mary Wheeler Carman:
Mary Lucy Wheeler Carman, 79, of 120 Sherman Ave., died Tuesday at her
residence following and extended illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1920, in Gillsville, Ga., she was the daughter of Dock
Willard and Fannie Belle Davis Wheeler.
She had been employed at National Latex and Ashland College. She was a
member of Steele Avenue Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Senior
Citizens and the Senior Citizens band.
She was married June 3, 1939, to Arles R. Carman, who preceded her in
death.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald L. and Jan Carman of
Mansfield, David A. and Sue Carman and Tim L. and Mary Carman, all of
Ashland, and Kenneth D. and Elaine Carman of Hayesville; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Mary Louann "Ann" and Paul Goard and Judith Sue and Wayne Dixon,
all of Ashland, and Arlene Kay and Gary Thompson of Savannah; 14
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ernestine Hurd of
Barnesville.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Heyl Funeral Home with Travis Irwin
and Arthur Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral
home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer
Society.
