PML: since the Personal Mailing List was put in place the exact way of
handling these posts has been under discussion. How to avoid getting your
own posts back, "bandwidth used", and of course, copyright issues. In the
discussion, whether posts are accurate, are properly sourced, propagate
misinformation, whether all genealogical facts are in the public domain,
whether emails actually contain original material or not, whether posting
to a public site weakens the case for copyright. etc. One person finally
wrote in the vein of:
of course some people are defiantly original in the genealogies they post.
it would be a good thing if they copyrighted the material.

Rootsweb has changed tremendously in the last year. So has the net and so
