Subject: [NB-L] Re: Myers - DeLong
Hi Pat,
I have not been able to prove 'my' Samuel as a son of Samuel
&
Patience (Willett) Mires of Waterborough, NB.
Henry DeLong (1796-1873) was probably born at Long Island, Hampstead,
N.B., but grew up in Waterborough (I knew you'd like this tidbit).
I may have a typo. Richard said in his message that Henry m. on 1
March, 1817. I have 22 Mar. (something for me to recheck).
In 1824, Henry bought lot 3 at Cambridge Narrows from Adolph(us)
Humphrey. Catherine died on 17 Jan., 1835 "in the 42nd year of her
age" (see NB Courier, 21 Jan., p. 3). Henry is buried at the Narrows
with Catherine & his 2nd wife, Sarah (Carman). I don't know where
Henry's 3rd. wife is buried.
Incidentally, I have Catherine as nee Miers/Myers - parents
unknown. Her age suggests a DOB around 1793.
Cambridge Narrows is partly in Canning, which is where the 1796
grant to Samuel Myers is located. If for nothing else, you get an
"A" for geography. Sounds like you are on the right track, though.
Good luck,
Bill
