Great--
Nice of you to follow up. Was it Waters' son who became an Episcopal
Bishop? And I think there is a Carman Road or Street somewhere.

I want to thank those who helped me gather information on the
family of
Waters CARMAN. He was born in 1811 (in NY or CT), moved to Illinois in 1822,
to California in 1849 and to Oregon in 1852. To help those who have
information on only one of his marriages, I will list below both wives and
all of his children.
Waters' parents were Jacob Carman, Jr. and Mahala Golden, both born about
1785. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Carman, Sr. (born November 13,
1747 in Oyster Bay, NY) and Rachel Weeks.
Waters Carman was a millwright and worked as an overseer at the mills of
the Durham family at Oswego, Oregon. At their home he met his second wife;
she was a recent widow. After their marriage in 1852, Waters and Lucretia
applied for and received a 320 acre Donation Land Claim in 1853 near Lake
Oswego, Oregon.
