Thanks for the info. By the time my grandfather came along to where he could ask questions about the family, everybody was advanced in age and getting forgetful.
I'm descended from Albert Porter Carman's 2nd wife's brother.
I'm appreciative of anything that can be sent along.

Part of the info you have in incorrect. Harry's father was Hiram Carman not Heman. He was my grandfathers brother. Theodore Wood Carman was my father. I have been resurching the Carman family for 13 years. Are you related Ruth?

Does anyone have any birth, death, or parentage information on Morris Carman? He was born in about 1799 in New York.
His first kid was born in Schuyler County, New York (I think). Two years later, second kid was born in what is now Tompkins County, New York. They seemed to also be in and around and at least through Cayuga County, New York in the very early 1830's. Morris appears in the Porter Township, Porter County, Indiana 1850 census with his wife Jane [and I believe her last name was Greg], born in about 1802. Five kids were still at home as per the census, and I know that at least 2 were already gone from the house and out on their own by that time. Two (if not more) of the sons, including Asahel Carman next showed up in Princeton, Lake County, Wisconsin, sometime in the 1859-1862 range. Asahel Carman married in Princeton, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, to Alminia Record on Feb 23, 1867. Asahel and wife apparently went on to Waseca, Waseca County, Minnesota, where she died on July 8, 1870, leaving behind 3 kids. If Morris left Indiana, I can't figure out where he went.
