Eight is the correct number. I guess I shouldn't count while taking NyQuil.
(all surnamed Carman, all born East Richland, Ohio)
William D. Terry 26 October 1851
Alfred H. 17 November 1852
Frank Walter 15 December 1854
Unnamed infant 4 February 1855 (died same day)
Jessie E. 28 July 1856
Ida Geneva Lee 21 December 1857
James C. 22 March 1859
Emma 12 March 1861
I do not have Margaret Amanda's, William Cooper Carman's second wife, maiden name.
Ida Geneva Lee Carman's husband was William Huggins, two children as of 1879 - Frank and Emma.
I don't keep track of Temple Endowments either, but for those who care to and are members ofthe LDS church, they now have that information and all Temple Ordinances on-line but you have to go see your Ward Clerk and obtain certain information to confirm your membership in the church and gain access. The information is current to date as soon as key punched.
The obituary previously posted makes it sound as if Charles died on duty.
For the record Charles Bennett Carman, 9 Feb 1845 - 5 Jul 1882, died of
Typhoid Fever following an attack of the Measles. He was a respected Police
Sgt attached to the Jefferson Market Police Squad and had joined the
Brooklyn Police in 1874 climbing quickly in rank (Remember Brooklyn didn't
become part of New York City until Jan 1, 1899 and still was it's own City
then).

"Ezra Ayers Carman (1834-1909) was a Civil War officer interested in the
history of that war and particularly the Battle of Antietam. Carman served
on the Antietam Battlefield Board from 1894 to 1898 and in 1905 was
appointed chairman of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military
Park Commission at the insistence of the previous chairman, Henry V.N.
Boynton. Carman also served as Chief Clerk in the U.S. Dept. of
Agriculture from 1877 to 1885. His son, Dr. Louis D. Carman (1860-1936),
was a medical examiner in the U.S. Pension Bureau from 1883 to 1933."

I'm trying to track down any information on Albert J. Carman and Susan
McDowell, my gg grandparents. From all that I have, A.J. was born in
Jefferson CO. TN. in 1845 and died in 1926. He and Susan were married abt.
1866 and had 10 children. Their names were, Harriet Rachel, born-1868.
Walter Alonzo, born-1869. Mary Ida, born-1871. Laura Belle, born-1873.
Melissa, born-1875. Bertha Cordiely, born-1876 in KY. (my great
grandmother). James Riley, born-1879. Robert D., born-1882. Joseph Blaine,
born-1884. Carry May (Carrie Mae), born-1887. I haven't any idea as to whom
any married, their deaths, nor anything about their children (with the
exception of Bertha).
A.J. may have been married twice after his marriage to Susan McDowell. To
Susan C. Coleman in 1888 and then to her sister, Tamer Louise Coleman in
1898. Their parents were George R. and Katie Ann Ashby or Ashly.
If anyone has any information regarding this Carman line, please contact me.
Anything would be a great help. Thanks.
