The minister's family name was originally Grootstad, which means Big City.
Clergy and other educated people throughout Europe would translate their
names into the Greek or Latin equivalent, so in this case the Greek
Megapolensis. Philip Melanchthon, generally considered the founder of the
German educational system (and Martin Luther's closest academic ally)
created a Greek name for himself from the German original Schwarzerd, both
names meaning Black Dirt.

Patricia I thank you for the reply, but I was actually looking for their parents or brothers and sisters, I think that I have most of their descendants thanks to my cousin and her daughter. Most of those older posts where from them. Thank you again Patricia.

Nancy,
I am directly related to Alexander Carman through his son Joseph Carman. I have not been able to forsure find out who his father is. I have looked at a film and found him listed with a brother named Richard. The father's name was very hard to make out. My guess would be Elijah. But I have not been able to prove it. I also would like to know who Joseph's wife name was if you have any information on her please let me know. Thank you, Mari Carman
