<< The same held true for his children - they had to prove they were his

family Bible was used. The pages were actually torn from the Bible and mailed
to Washington. They are a permanent part of his file and cannot be removed.

Jocelyn,
In the later years photographs were also used. Here is one that I found
in
a record of one of the Greene County, Pa., Cragos. Maybe it will help
someone else.

The record was for Felix Hughes Crago, 1836-1917. He first married Mary

My grandfather's grandparents' names were Frank Gilbert Carman and Margaret Elizabeth Rider. Their children were Elsie Mildred Carman, William Carman, Frank Jr, Archie and Harvey. We have some info about the children but we've been unable to find much out about the parents. Any help would be much appreciated.
Wonder what this information implies -- and where more information would
be available?
If anyone has additional information or sources for this information
please post to the list. Thanks.

My family on my father's side-- the Carmans --come from Casey County Kentucky. I am not sure what type (tribe)Indians we have in the family I know my great grandmother was a full blooded Indian-- I was always under the impression that it was Cherokee. However my great grandfather went on the gold rush out west so I am not 100% sure. The only thing I know is there are a lot of Leslie's and Johns in the family. My dad was Leslie, his father Estill, his father John which is my great grandfather who went on the gold rush. I know there are several more Leslie's and John's at the graveyards in Kentucky. I have not spent much time working on the family history -- however my brother is very interested. Let me know if you think we are related. Sincerely Sue Kummerle

I am just getting started in doing a family tree. I had an uncle named Leslie Carman, my dad's name was John Carman, they were part Indian, Blackfoot, I think. Was wondering if you could email me & maybe I can get some family history from you to see if this is from the same Carman family. Thanks so much.
