SUBJECT: CARMAN-MISC. #4
From notes taken by Linda [snip] from the book CARMAN
GENEALOGY by Wm. Stilwell Carman.
"Volume 4, page 26 - Caaleb Carman, born Jan. 9, 1645,
Hempstead, Long Island; married about 1670. Children: Caleb.
No other data on children was given with this entry.
Page 22-23, Children of John and Florence Carman as
named in John's will, Queens Co Records, Lib A, p. 9;
According to author.
Sept. 14, 1684(94?) Hempstead. Names of children were in
ink by the author but their dates of birth were in pencil by
our unknown source.
John (b. 1659)
Caleb (b. 1657)
Benjamin (b. 1661)
Abigail (b. 1664)
Samuel (b. 1666)
Thomas (b. 1668)
Joshua (b. 1670)
Joseph (b. 1671)
John and Caleb were mentioned in the will as being the
two eldest sons. Joshua and Joseph were mentioned in the
will as being the two younger sons.
Another child's name and date of birth was penciled in by
our unknown source as being Hannah (b. 1662). Perhaps she
died prior to this will and that is the reason she is not
mentioned in it.
Booklet 26, page 1 - Florence Carman married a second
time to John Hicks. She is supposed to be the sister of the
Rev. Robert Fordham, one of the two grantees, from the
Indians of all the Hempsteads on Long Island. Florence was
born in England and died in Hempstead, Long Island."
